Combat Width Redesigned

Description
Due to the changes to Combat Width made by the most recent patch, this mod is no longer supported and will likely not work. Thank you all for downloading and commenting and generally helping me through my first and only major mod. For a week or so this was, unbelievably, the most popular mod on the Hoi4 workshop and stayed in the top lists for ages, so I am extremely grateful for that. I won't be deleting it, so that some record of it remains, but I strongly recommend you do not use it in your games. Cheers!

--------

Combat Width Redesigned breaks the tyranny of 20w/40w divisions and allows you to design historical or interesting division templates without being unduly punished. All while still respecting game balance.

Changes
  • The penalty for going over width is now 1% per point rather than 2%. This means that the amount of stats your divisions lose when going over width is directly proportional to how much you go over. If you go 10% over width, your divisions lose 10% of their stats.

  • Base combat width is set to 96 and attacking from another direction adds a further 48. This number offers more divisibility, allowing 16, 24, 32 & 48 etc width divisions to fit snugly together. While these numbers may be 'optimal', the above change means you will not be punished if you get creative.

I've always been slightly bothered by how combat width forces players into optimal, ahistorical division templates by punishing the player unless they fit exactly within a certain template. 7-2 divisions being a particularly egregious example.

This mod is an attempt to lessen the need to do this and free up player to design divisions based on their industrial capacity and historical inclination.

Do note that, as explained to me by far cleverer people here, due to the way numbers work in the game, you can never entirely make an exact 1:1 ratio of width reduction to penalty, however this mod makes the difference minimal.

As we're no longer constrained by the need to create optimal divisions, here's a few resources to create historical templates:

Hi, I have published your mod which is also available in 1.11.
The link is https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2836036212
However, as I published this mod without permission to create it, it may cause problems. Could you please approve or ban the mod if possible?(I used the DeepL translation, so there may be grammatical errors etc.).

Sorry to anyone who sent me a message here for the past couple of months. I knew with NSB's release that this mod would likely become unnecessary so haven't really updated it or anything as it still seemed to keep working for me.

Thank you all for your support :)

just asking but is there going to be a update? :cozyspaceengineersb:
