Did you ever wanted to see how it would look like if your ship was just built for beauty?
I know, I know, but what I mean is the thrusters.
How many times did you make a good looking ship but was in situation where it would look so much nicer with less thrusters?
Or how many times did you build the hull, and then had to clunk it up with an array of thrusters just to support it?
And then it needs even more blocks, more power producers for all that power requirement.
Well, this mod might be for you.

What this mod does is it streamlines the power of every thruster into a constant thrust by mass.
Meaning you will get the same amount of acceleration with one thruster no matter the size (mass).

In many games, thruster sizes and amount are not proportional to actual thrust force against ship mass.
They are in the end, cosmetics. A size that is most aproprate for a ships design and location etc.
Yes, even Star Citizen does that. Haven't you noticed the acceleration on some ships that have seemignly large rear thrusters but a few tiny RCS around, yet it stops you pretty good or handles pretty well?
Yeah, no. Those RCS, no matter the count, cannot have the same thrust counter output as those giant rear ones. And I'm fine with that, i get it. Deal with it.

So I wanted to emulate that just to see what I could build without constantly thinking-
'Will it have enough thrust? o.O'
'Ah, it needs more thrusters on this side but how do i implement them in current design? -.-'
'This location doesn't have enough room for it and I don't want to make it bigger. :('
'Oh man, so many thrusters, need more power. But where do i put it? T.T'
'So many batteries now... :/'
'How do i tuck away the large reactor on my fighter with all those thrusters? >:/'



IMPORTANT
Because the way Keen handles block stats, it had to be changed in such a way that currently makes any thruster upgrades unusable! If you rely on upgrades, do not use this mod yet. If you still want to use the mod and have upgrades that are integral to ships hull, or design, just turn the upgrades off. Thank Keen for that. 😑



UPDATE 1
  • Fixed bug where the thrust changes were global instead of per grid. Meaning the last grid to have had a block added/removed was used for thrust calculations which as you can imagine would result in wrong thrust forces on any other grid of a bigger mass difference.
    This however came at a price of upgrades not being supported yet. I will try to add thruster upgrade support as soon as possible.
  • Changed it so that the logic only applies to supported thrusters, any non-recognized thruster from a mod will work as usual.
  • Rebalanced thrust forces by small and large grids.
  • Added mass threshold to large and small grid.
    A small grid thruster will have the same force up to 300 tons.
    A large grid thruster will have same force up to 3500 tons.
Balancing still in progress.



THRUSTER TYPES
* RCS
* Small Thrusters - All vanilla small thrusters fall into this category.
* Large Thrusters - All vanilla large thrusters fall into this category.
* Super Thrusters
* Capital Thrusters
* Titan Thrusters


It would make sense for vanilla small thrusters to be RCS category, large as large and Sci-Fi as small and super.
However, since it's a DLC and should be of cosmetic nature as well as to avoid imbalance due to not everyone having the DLC's, they are all the same category.
So no, that will not change.




OTHER THRUSTER MODS COMPATIBILITY AND SUPPORT
There will be different thrust outputs for different thruster types for modded ones that I will implement soon.
However, even when i implement that, modders must supply that with their mods.
In mean time I will open a discussion where you can help me add modded thrusters into proper categories as I can't do it all.
It would take just too much time to go through so many mods, download them and check all of them and add etc.
You can help out with your favorite thruster mods. To keep it simple and easy to track and try avoid duplicates, please follow the format rules.
And please check if the mod or thruster isn't already posted by someone else in the discussion or if it's not already supported in the CURRENTLY SUPPORTED MODS section.

COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER

REUPLOAD PERMISSIONS
Only as server specific rebalance mods is allowed without permission under the added condition that it's UNLISTED and following the 'reupload conditions'.

REUPLOAD CONDITIONS
  • If My mod uses another authors work that does not give editing permission by default, You will need to ask listed authors for permission first, after which the continuing conditions apply.
    This will be noted on any mods using other authors assets and other contributons.
  • Mod name cannot be the same, it has to differentiate itself from My original mod name by something, some prefix or suffix.
  • You cannot use My original mod thumbnail for Your mod.
  • You can use My videos showcasing Your mod if You don't have the ability to make Your own and if the showcase still makes sense for Your mod, e.g no significant model changes or non at all etc.
    You best decide, but any other images You are to make Yourself.
  • Credit Me, any contributing authors and link to My original mod must be provided in Your mod description.
  • Clear instructions must be provided that using Your version of mod, any bugs are to be reported solely to You on Your mod page and not My own original mod as they don't necessarily need to corelate nor do I fix and update bugs based on other peoples mod reuploads, unknown mod edits etc, nor will I ever check a mod reupload for bugs or other errors.
    By reuploading, you are taking any updating responsibility on your own.
    However, any updates I make that would still work for Your mod as well can be integrated.

REMARKS
Even if a mod is an update from another existing mod that has an open permission, the assets or code are still my own, in many cases remade from scratch so I own the rights for any assets in cases where the changes are significant.

WARNING
Failing to follow any of the listed conditions, I will consider it as copyright infringement and will take action.
If for any reupload inquiries I don't reply within a month and you attempted to contact me at least three times within that month (I just may not have seen it or wasn't able to respond timely after which I forgot about it), you are free to use it as you see fit, following the 'reupload conditions'.

Seems they don't push harder than 4x thrust relative to the scale or weight of what they are on.

Any plans to update this mod mate? -Currently does not seem to work and I'm still looking for a mod that reduces lag by making a omni-directional op thruster 1x1x1 square for large capital ships so people can build on visual.

Now thinking about it, I will try to actually make so only the grid mass itself will not impact the thrust but cargo container weight should.

It's i guess hard to convey. It's like this, you will have the same acceleration with one thruster no matter how heavy the grid is (so no matter the grid size or the weight inside cargo containers).
If you place another thruster, it will double the acceleration and so forth. 😅

Sorry to say this but your description is very vague. What does this mod do exactly? Do I get the same amount of thrust with one thruster or many thrusters?
