Meclift 110 ton Telescopic Container Handler for the NJ Gaming Community Build Challenge - Best Cargo Handler Vechicle


Meclift is a Finish manufacturer that makes material handling equipment. The Meclift 11012NJ is fictional heavy lift handler for standard AISO 20 ft containers (11 x 27). With a maximum lift of 110,000 kg and reach of 2,750 mm, the ML11012NJ has the strengh to handler the heaviest 20 ft AISO containers.

IMPORTANT: Due to physics glitches the arm may sometimes get stuck and not extend (particularly under load), I recommend that you raise the arm to maximum angle and try extending. If that does not work, set down and disconnect the load, extend the arm by 3 blocks, then reconnect the load.

Enter via the ladder at the back of the vehicle. Exiting the vehicle can be done through the rear of the cab, after exiting the driver's seat.

Use the ignition key to the left hand side of the driver's seat to turn on all systems. Gauges turn on automatically when you sit in the seat.

Driving is done with standard W/A/S/D. Front wheel drive, rear wheel steering and all wheel braking. However vehicle has an advanced auto throttle/break transmission invented by user Chickensaur. The W/S axes will automatically switch between throttle and break. The system has three gears of Drive, Park and Reverse. Break lights and reverse warning lights/sound are also implemented.

• Park - Vehicle is stopped and throttle is at 0. W is mapped to forward throttle and shifts to Drive gear. S is mapped to reverse throttle and shifts to Reverse gear.
  
• Drive - Vehicle is moving forward. W is mapped to forward throttle. S is mapped to brakes. When the vehicle comes to a stop and the brakes are released, the transmission will switch to Park gear.
  
• Reverse - Vehicle is moving backward. W is mapped to brakes. S is mapped to reverse throttle. When the vehicle comes to a stop and the brakes are released, the transmission will switch to Park gear.

Note: Gear shift takes half a second, so if it seems that the transmission is stuck in Park, release the throttle/brake for a half second.

Telescopic Handler Arm is controlled with Arrow Keys and the driver's seat Hot Keys. To connect an AISO container, move the connectors close to the top connectors of the container and press the Activate Connectors hot key.

Physics glitches! I have managed to snuff out almost all the physics glitches that I found while developing this vehicle, but some still remain. First, the arm may sometimes get stuck and not extend (particularly under load), I recommend that you raise the arm to maximum angle and try extending. If that does not work, set down and disconnect the load, extend the arm by 3 blocks, then reconnect the load. Second, the vehicle is very heavy and even 6 max grip tires are not quite enough so sliding will happen. When turning, counter stearing to straiten out will be required and sharp turns have a risk of spinout. The breaks are quite good though.
