Midcentury Middle Class Ranch Home - The Leland

Description
A new America awaits!

Tired of the old, smog-choked city? Do you desire spacious land and open air in which to raise your family? Are you and your loved ones trying to find that evermore perfect paradise?

Say no more - the future has arrived!

The future city as new as tomorrow...

The first in a series, this is a mid century (1950's - 1960's) modern styled starter ranch home. Based firmly on the mass produced postwar housing found across the entirety of the USA, and particularly inspired by the Levittowns in New York and Pennsylvania.

Three beds and 1.5 baths somehow crammed into a tiny 1 story-with-a-basement footprint, replete with driveway and roomy front/back yard. Built rapidly in the post-WWII era as affordable dwellings for millions of new middle class families across the USA, these tidy places had the trappings of traditional homes but with exciting modern flair.

Specifically, I'm basing the series of a small subdivision of houses found in Southern Milwaukee, WI: 195 W Armour Ave [www.google.com] & S 5th Pl [www.google.com] (bonus in that shot btw)

Modern homes on gently sloped, winding streets...

Recommended Assets

Several Pdelmo assests (Regular Bush tiny, leafy), SKF assets (driveways & short pathways, grill, and lawn flamingos - unless you can't stand them, in which case, don't subscribe to them), Simulant (ac / air con unit) and vanilla assets (mailbox, vents, etc) were used to decorate the lot, but lacking these other assets will do no harm.

I should also note that many of my assets share textures, so if you have Loading Screen Mod, you'll see some decent load time savings.

Commentary

What's that, you say? Almost 1000 tries for the main?

Yeah, as Mies famously said, God is in the details. I made this sucker specifically to look great with Benzxsa's Walk n' Drive ) & similar mods. In fact, you can see several pictures taken with that mod above. The buildings look pretty sweet up close.

Worried about that FPS drop? Fear not! The LOD is like 30 tris. It's... a cookie cutter box with a roof. Meant for sprawling suburbs in the hinterlands of your urban metropolis.

Also made some other upgrades to this lot, like more detailing on the facade, non-repeating roofwork, driveway/porchways, and different windows that light up or stay dark on the model at night. Pretty neat front door lighting too, if I do say so myself. These blend exceptionally well with the similarly sized houses from the European housing DLC btw - definitely a must buy for stateside suburbs too imho.

Anyway, I'm releasing these as kraft singles because I take forever to make stuff. Stay tuned for the rest of the series because...

...from Levittown to Los Angeles, from Minneapolis to Miami, the quiet revolution continues, as a great industry provides better homes for modern American living!

I had the hardest time finding this exact style of home even though it's literally everywhere in a lot of the places I've been. Much appreciated!

This is great. I have been looking for assets to recreate the Broadmoor neighborhood in Shreveport, LA and these will be perfect.

Finally a ranch home on the workshop. Considering how common they are in American cities, I'm suprised theres so few. Thanks for being the first.

I think this is Level1 (not 3) based on how it appears in my Theme Manager. Nice asset.
