Switches for the lighting in the America & Doc Holiday's Lounges are located behind the stages in both venues. SHIP HISTORY
Following the success of Carnival's first purpose built cruse ship, The Tropicale, The decision was made to construct a new class of ships built from the ground up to cruise for Carnival, the Holiday-Class.

The first ship of the class, "Holiday", was launched in 1983 and joined the Carnival fleet in 1985. She would soon be joined by her 2 sisters, "Jubilee" in 1986 & "Celebration" in 1987. The class was so successful that when Carnival needed a new ship class to compete with Royal Caribbean's Sovereign-Class they simply scaled up the Holiday-Class in to create the larger but similarly designed Fantasy-Class.

HOLIDAY

"Holiday" would sail the Caribbean for the first decade of her career before being moved to the west coast of the US in the mid 90s. By the early 2000s her age was starting to show and she was renovated in 2003. In 2005 she was sent to New Orleans to serve as temporary housing for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. When she resumed sailing she cruised the western Caribbean out of Mobile, Alabama until she was retired from the Carnival fleet in 2009.

She was then transferred to Ibero Cruises(a subsidiary of Costa Cruises which is owned by Carnival), a Spanish cruise line, where she received a new paint job and the name "Grand Holiday". She would sail the Mediterranean from 2010 until the end of 2014. During that time she would serve as a floating hotel during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

At the end of 2014, She was sold to Cruise and Maritime Voyages, a British based cruise line. In early 2015 she got another new paint job and a new name "Magellan". She sailed for Cruise and Maritime Voyages until the Covid-19 Pandemic caused the cruise industry to grind to a halt in 2020. Unable to handle the cost of being unable to sail for months, in July 2020 Cruise and Maritime Voyages declared bankruptcy. "Magellan" and the rest of their fleet where put up for sale. As of August 12, 2020 "Magellan" is still on the market for $9 million USD however there are some signs that she has been purchased by an unknown buyer.

JUBILEE

Showing her age around the same time as "Holiday", "Jubilee" was retired from the Carnival fleet in 2004. She was transferred to P&O Cruises Australia(Also owned by Carnival) where she was renamed the "Pacific Sun". Upon entering the P&O fleet she was extensively modified to appear less like a former Carnival ship. This included removing the "fins" on the sides of her funnel. While serving P&O, she sailed out of Sydney & Brisbane.

In 2011 she was sold to HNA Cruises, a Chinese cruise line, and renamed "Henna". While serving HNA she would sail from ports in China, Vietnam & Korea. In 2015 HNA Cruises ceased operations and the "Henna" was sold for scrap. She was dismantled in Alang in 2017.

CELEBRATION

"Celebration" served Carnival until 2008 when she was transferred to Ibero Cruises. There she was renamed "Grand Celebration" and joined her sister "Grand Holiday" in the Mediterranean.

In 2014, it was announced that "Grand Celebration" would be joining the Costa Cruise Lines fleet as "Costa Celebration". However she would never sail for Costa. A day before she was scheduled to sail her first voyage for Costa she was sold.

In 2015 she joined the Bahamas Paradise Cruises fleet. She returned to Florida and was once again renamed "Grand Celebration". In the service of Bahamas Paradise cruises she offers 2-3 night discount cruises out of Palm Beach, Florida.

As of August 2020, she is currently involved in a scandal. Bahamas paradise Cruises is being sued by the crew of the "Grand Paradise" who claim there where held on the ship without pay as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

NOTES

-I Highly recommend limiting the wind while using this ship as she easily capsizes in high seas.

-She sits lower in the water then originally intended. As a result opening the door on Deck 2 will let a little water in so there is a dedicated bilge pump to remove any water from that lobby. The switch to activate it is located above the refueling controls next to the door on the port side if the vessel.

-I'm still relatively new to this and this is the 2nd ship I've built that I can really call complete. If you have any advice on how I can improve this ship or any future vessels I'd love to hear them.

A PERSONAL NOTE: This project is a very special one for me. I sailed on "Holiday" twice when I was 5 back in 1999 and it inspired my lifelong love of ships. As things got rocky for the cruise industry this year, I became concerned that "Holiday" may soon be bound for the scrapyard so I built this as a tribute to a ship that had a profound impact on my young mind.

I really hope you guys enjoy her as much as I enjoyed building her.
