The reason a citizen would run all the way to town to go to school is because the village school didn't have teachers or lacked workers. Those little two worker and two teacher schools don't stay manned all the time. A school needs a minimum of 4 workers and 3 teachers to stay open consistently otherwise the villagers will run off to town for work and school. I created a minimally viable school house for you which you can download here. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much! I agree, villages are REALLY hard to manage, but I strive to keep them going nonetheless... Unfortunately, the AI is made in such a way that is rigged towards a city-dwelling lifestyle, and basic "countryside" reactions don't occur, like: "oh, my children need to go to school, which is in town, half a mile down the road. I shan't take them in my 7-seater car, because that would be logical!!"
Arf! anyway, thanks for your work! I really appreciate what you've done so far!

Villages are hard to manage. The people generally make too many demands for the village to support. The people become discontented after a while if they can't assess a pub, cinema, sports, and a hospital. If you give them just the basics of food, clothing, kindergarten, and school it will fall apart if they don't get luxuries too. And if you do try to give them the extra goodies it spreads the workers too thin. All it takes is the kindergarten worker not to show up and the whole town breaks because nobody works at all if they don't have a kindergarten. Seems like the smallest a village can be and still be viable is around 200-300 people.

The buildings in this series are aimed for a bit higher than that at 500 to 1500 people. I will look into making some smaller buildings to get closer to that 200-300 minimum threshold.

I am enjoying this series of mods a lot! now we can actually provide services to our fellow comrades without totally destroying the town!
May I make a request (for a future series, maybe): the same sort of thing but for villages! There are mods already for villages, but an entire homogenous set of buildings and facilities that could be integrated into small villages would be wonderful! small farming villages would no longer be neglected! All shall be cared for in the glorious republic!!!
