Apocalypse Mode++

Description
Overview
Apocalypse Mode++ makes multiple gameplay changes to make Apocalypse Mode more enjoyable. It is NOT designed to make Apocalypse Mode extremely punishing, but rather rebalanced and more fun.

These changes are only active when Apocalypse Mode is active.

Disasters
  • All natural disasters can now occur when the game enters the final Apocalypse stage. In normal Apocalypse Mode, the end game disables all disasters except Comets, which I thought wasn't fun.
  • In the final Apocalypse stage, these disasters will occur much more frequently than usual. Without this mod, nearly all natural disasters except Comet Strikes are disabled in the Apocalypse stage, which can be pretty boring.

Comets
  • Comet Strikes can now occur at any time. Before the game enters the final Apocalypse stage, though, they will occur pretty rarely.
  • Comet Impact Zones provide Fresh Water to adjacent cities.
  • All tiles adjacent to Comet Impact Zones receive doubled base yields.
  • To compensate for all of this, Comet Impact Zones from random Comets are reduced to 1 tile, instead of 4 (targeted Comets that strike cities always leave 1 tile anyway).

I have an idea: There's a satellite mod that adds different orbital satellites in late game, could there be a way to let those satellites be functional to block/cancel incoming meteor attack effect if foretasted? If so, it must be the most humanitarian mod ever.:steamhappy:

There's no way to do that unfortunately.

p0kiehl, do you know if it would even be possible given the game's code to make it so that sacrificing your units decreases your chance of experiencing a natural disaster (i.e. literally appeasing the gods)? I find it curious that Firaxis left that out. It would take some of the sting out of having to sacrifice your own units...which further begs the question why they didn't bother including a mechanic to allow you to capture enemy units and sacrifice them.

I only noted it for you, because when i was just now looking at whether or not i wanted to download this for use, the Diplomatic part made me not want to use it until I saw down in comments it was removed. ;) Thought i'd help, so people don't have an aversion to this mod when it's not in their anyways.
