Zombies Fear The Sun

Description
Makes zombies seek indoors and go inactive at day time.

The zombies seek to go indoors in the morning, and wake up at night, based on time of year.

If you hit a zombie that is docile, it will temporarily wake up along with nearby zombies.

This was inspired by the zombies in the show "Kingdom", and I used a good portion of code in FearTheRain by Stephanus van Zyl AKA Viceroy.

2023-02-16 - 2.2 Behavior improvements
  • change the way zombies are initialized. Because it seems zombies are created before buildings they were failing checks for closest building and being set to docile outside.
  • when zombies are initialized they are immediately given a travel command.
  • modify night routine to encourage more zombies to go outside. Improve logic that gives zombies commands.
  • various code comment documentation updates
    2023-02-15 - 2.1 Bug squashing and improvements.
  • add function to calculate if a target is too far
  • add function to lure zombies to a distant target helping in rural areas
  • change some logic on daytime and night time routines to make zombies more likely to move and reduce false positive docile zombies outside
  • change tick calculations slightly to make sure zombies are more likely to move
  • add lure chance to static variables to allow spicing up night time by pushing a certain percentage of zombies outside
    2021-01-07 - change target to avoid error spam.
    2021-01-05 - upload to steam, small change to luresound, turn off loadzombie function due to issues.

For those experiencing oddities, turning off Definitive Zombies and similar zombie behavior mods helped to make this more consistent for me. If you're looking for Night Sprinters without the Night Sprinters mod, just turn on Day/Night Active under Zombie Lore and set their base speed to Spinters.

Real shame this makes zombies practically harmless during day, wanted to setup a "I am Legend" style game with buffed sprinting zombies at night but zombies stay asleep even if you rampage in their hideouts at day.

This seems to work for the most part, is there a setting somewhere in Sandbox where you can tick it so all zombies run inside? Its working 90% of the time where zombies will seek a building to hide in, but sometimes a few just ignore it and chase me outside or just dont go inside at all.

This works for Build 41.78, even in MP. Great for an "I am Legend" playthrough.

Unfortunately zombies broke my door trying to get in and away from the sun and i had to fix it later.

if this doesnt work for you, errors are probably coming from other mods that change zombie behavior. this is a must have mod for me

what that guy says below me :) I do read all of your comments but reports are so varied of it working or not that I won't touch til B42.

FOR ANYONE ELSE HAVING ISSUES, READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST:

The mod likely does not work anymore, and based on his comments below, the author has no intentions of updating this anytime soon, at the very least until Build 42 is out. It would be pointless for him to fix the mod, only for B42 to come out not long after and just break it again.

The mod isn't working. It will likely not be fixed until AFTER Build 42 is out.
