MV Glen Sannox (1957 Car Ferry)

Description
I've heard that Stormworks missions are broken, so here is a link to the vehicle file:

Disclaimer: My creation is NOT a 100% accurate replica of the real ship. I had to use my imagination when building most of the ship, as there aren't a lot of good pictures, plans, or detailed information about the ship online (my only source of info, I don't have any personal connections or other resources). Also, the dimensions/general specs are not quite accurate when compared with the real ship.

This is the MV Glen Sannox, a large passenger/car ferry.

This is my first “mega project”. I have been working on this for almost 3 months (with some procrastination here and there), and I think that it’s finally ready to be posted on the workshop. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Features:
-Full Interior
-1 big, very useless crane
-A huge car deck (you can fit ~24 cars in it)
-2 sinking modes (normal or engine explosion)
-Tons of equipment stations (no 1.0 equipment yet, I'll try to add that in the future)
-2 barely usable lifeboats (they’re super unstable, so be careful!)
-Flickering Light system (activates when ship sinks)

History
The MV Glen Sannox was originally launched on April 30, 1957. The ship was built for the Arran service, which she faithfully served for 14 years. After this, she enjoyed a versatile career on the west coast of Scotland, which lasted over 32 years. In 1989, she was sold to Arab interests for service on the Red Sea. Unfortunately, she ran aground on a reef south of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia sometime in 2000, where she was ultimately abandoned.
I just pulled this from the wiki, so I'm not sure how accurate this information actually is:/

Startup Procedure
This ship is fairly easy to start, but will probably take a while (you’re going to have to run all over the ship). Assuming that you are starting on Deck 3 (cafeteria, tea room, lounge), make your way over to the staircase near the bow of the ship (should be between the lounge and restrooms). Once you have made it here, go down the stairs until you reach Deck 1. Once here, you’ll have to run down the entire length of the ship to reach the engine room (located at the very end of the hallway). Once you’re inside the Engine Room, locate the Engine Room Control Panel, which is near the back of the room. Simply turn on all electric breakers/engine pumps, and press the engine ignition buttons (hold for about 1 second). Congratulations, you've successfully started the ship's engines! Now, you’ll need to run all the way back up to the wheelhouse to control the ship… good luck;)

Some Useful Information
Assuming that you’ve managed to locate/enter the wheelhouse, I would recommend finding the Light Control Panel (located directly behind the Helm). From here, you can control almost all lighting systems onboard the ship. The last major feature that I’ll mention is the Sink Mode keys. These are located under the Light Control Panel (should be directly underneath the generator/battery dials).

Spawning In The Ship
Due to the size of this creation, a mission is required to spawn it in. I have provided two different missions for you to choose from. The first mission spawns in both the MV Glen Sannox and the loading docks (you will need these if you are planning to load vehicles onto the ship). As the name would suggest, be very careful with this particular mission, as it is extremely laggy. The ship itself spawns at the Military Base (for some reason, it seems to be less laggy there), while the loading docks spawn at the following locations:

1. Creative Base
2. Military Base
3. Terminal Camodo
4. Terminal Spycakes
5. Multiplayer Base
6. Sawyer Islands’ North Harbour

The second mission is much more forgiving and is less likely to melt your computer. This will only spawn the ship itself (no docks or other additions). The ship spawns at the Custom Base Oil Rig.

I also used Tajin’s Stormworks Toolbox (it’s incredibly useful) to create the various paintings and decorations that can be found around the ship.

@Nobel Check under the lighting control panel behind the ship's wheel, there should be two keys. However, I don't know if the ship will actually sink or not since the Space DLC became a thing:/

@janisulonen With all due respect, this ferry is over 3 years old, so yes, things have changed since then. I didn't bother changing that detail because I didn't think anyone still used this boat and because I didn't think anyone would be pedantic enough to call me out on this. Either way, you're still correct, so I'll remove it.

im pretty sure this isn't the biggest car ferry anymore, as there is the M/S Athena and nordic serenity which seem to be bigger.

ok then, i guess i just need to find the breaker that enables electricity for the ship, other than that, the ship has very well performance and is really easy to use.

@thekiwifactory I'm not sure I can fix this, the ship was never intended to be used with infinite electric.
swisscheddarcheese 27 Dec, 2022 @ 6:54pm
infinite electric seems to have broken this ship because of lights being controlled by breakers, can you please fix that?
Potater_King  [author] 24 Aug, 2022 @ 8:45pm
Sure, no problem!
