Description
Adds the Terminus Systems as a Civilization, led by Aria T'Loak.

Aria is the ruthless Asari leader, the "Pirate Queen", of Omega, the lawless hub of the Terminus Systems. She rules it with an iron fist, backed by extremely loyal men, and almost nothing escapes her notice. No matter who she deals with, she makes sure she has the upper hand in the bargaining. She has centuries of experience dealing with people who thought themselves to be in better positions. Cunning, dangerous, and powerful, it would be a fatal mistake for anyone to break the one rule of Omega; "Don't F**k with Aria".

Trait: (Land of Opportunity) City-States provide greater bonuses and Influence degrades slower and recovers faster. Omega provides +4 gold and +2 production, increasing to +20 gold and +10 production upon researching Industrialization.

UU: Pirate. Replaces Infantry. Provides gold equal to 75% of defeated enemy. Can move through unopen borders. 15% weaker than unit it replaces, 50% attack bonus vs cities.

UB: Mining Facility. Replaces Mint. Each nearby worked source of Gold, Silver, Gems and Uranium provide +2 gold and +1 production. Requires resource nearby.

This is the nineteenth of our planned Mass Effect civs, the Terminus. Why worry about building alliances with other civilisations when you can control the city-states, the lawless, the free. Omega is yours, its vast benefits are yours to control. As the others bicker and fight, scrambling for gold and resources, use Omega to your advantage, unite the lawless under Omega's flag and show the rest what real power looks like.

So the Terminus were different from the other civs in many ways. Unlike the rest, who were created with G&K in mind, the Terminus Systems were created with BNW in mind. Because of this it means the BNW and G&K versions, despite having the same design philosophy, have the most differences between them. The Terminus were also planned after almost all the other civs had been released. The reason for this is because of Omega's, and the Terminus', importance in the series and because the Terminus could be balanced quite easily with the rest, filling a niche not covered by the others; city-states.

Originally Omega was going to be a city-state, but the Terminus Systems can be seen as Omega being "upgraded" into a civilisation. Because of that their entire civilisation revolves around it, Omega is the hub and the most important part of them, but more on that later. The reason for extra benefits from city-states is because, in the series, the Terminus Systems aren't under control of the Citadel Conventions. They aren't part of a larger civilisation, they're seperate regions and planets which create their own laws. City-states are similar, they're not part of a larger civ, so it makes sense for the Terminus to wield greater control over them and receive extra benefits.

Now, one incredibly unique thing about the Terminus Systems is Omega. Omega is powerful and part of their trait, but importantly, if Omega is captured then its trait bonuses will transfer to whoever captured it. This means that Omega itself becomes an important resource. It must be protected at all costs, because the benefits it grants are vast, and your enemies cannot get their hands on it.

The UU, the Pirate, is designed to be part of their main fighting force. Because they're pirates, and not fully trained soldiers, they're weaker than their counterparts. They're designed to be used tactically, as an army of Infantry can take on an army of Pirates. But, like pirates, they plunder gold from defeated enemies and are exellent at taking cities. The UB is the Mining Facility, meant to represent Omega's mines. This helps transfer their power throughout the Terminus, and allows other cities to shine rather than just being about Omega. It gains advantages from precious minerals and the strategically important Uranium, things a "lawless" society would care for.

As a final note I would like to give a massive thanks to a-iccara, from Deviantart, for her incredible help on creating a custom made Terminus symbol for us to use.

This is a dual project and we plan on creating and releasing all these civs (in no particular order) in the near future, and hopefully you'll enjoy them. :)

Troubleshooting

  • This mod requires Gods and Kings.
  • If you have Gods and Kings and don't know how to download or activate this mod, please follow this step-by-step guide by clicking here[forums.civfanatics.com].
  • If some, but not all, of the civs downloaded, then try exiting the game and unsubscribing and resubscribing through Steam Workshop, outside of the game. Steam just acts weird sometimes.
  • If you have a Mac then Steam Workshop wont work for you. Please click here[forums.civfanatics.com] and follow the instructions.
  • If the step-by-step guide or the troubleshooting still never fixed your problem, it's a common cache issue, which can be fixed by these steps:

    1) Unsubscribe from the mod. Exit Steam and Civ 5 completely
    2) Empty your mod folder (create backups) located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS
    3) Delete the 'Civ5ModsDatabase.db' file located at: C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\My documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\cache
    4) Restart steam, subscribe, restart Civ 5.

@Inaphyt - It might just be her AI is smart, like Cerberus. But generally the Terminus do so-so in my games, my last one they got killed by the Volus and the Krogans for example.

Also the Volus have a better gold start, and the Protheans have the same Production. Plus others, like the Salarians, have better Science.

Generally them doing consistently good in your games will just be luck.

Just me or is the AI godlike with this civ, every game i played against them they seem to do twice as good as every other Ai and on emperor getting my ass kicked twice that 2 production 4 gold start gives them a real strong early.

I would just like to note, so you are aware: These mods? These are the reason I own this game. I didn't give a DAMN about Civ until I saw these. At which point my thoughts were basically 'Free form Mass Effect civlization sim? HELL YES!'

"If you select the UIAddin first then if wont let you select the LUA for some reason."

That.... you fixed my mod! YAAAHOOOO! I wasn't adding it right the first time, thanks a ton, man, you're the best.

@Mobile - I think you can select the LUA before you select the InGameUIAddin.

If you select the UIAddin first then if wont let you select the LUA for some reason.

I appreciate you letting me use your code, if I ever get this thing running I'll be sure to give you thanks.

But I'm really not sure where I went wrong at this point though. Although, it's unsettling to me that my lua file is not listed when selecting it for InGameUIAddin, I can type it in manually and it builds fine, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. Might take a fresh look at it in a few days. Thanks again for your patience, and in the mean time I've got a game as the Batarians to win!
