North Korea DPRK Collection

Description
[ko-fi.com]

This is the fifth released item of the North Korea DPRK collection and it will probably be the most beautiful item i will ever make.

They say it is a Library, were people go to read books. But what actually happens is that they get indoctrinated into a new religion, the communist religion of Juche!

The Grand People's Study House is the central library located in the North Korean capital, Pyongyang. The building is situated on Kim Il-sung Square by the banks of the Taedong River.
The Study House was constructed in a traditional Korean style in April 1982 over a period of 21 months to celebrate leader Kim Il-sung's 70th birthday. The library was opened as the "centre for the project of intellectualising the whole of society and a sanctuary of learning for the entire people."The library is located in the center of the capital - the Central District of Pyongyang - "which is one of the most important neighbourhoods in the country because it is the national governmental district. Beside the library is the Supreme People's Assembly and other governmental office blocks. Directly in front of the library...is the Kim Il Sung Square - the third largest public square in the world - where the country's national events take place." For major media coverage, "the library serves as a grand backdrop to...speeches, military and nuclear parades, and carefully choreographed spectacles celebrating national holidays."

It has a total floor space of 100,000 square metres (1,100,000 sq ft). and 600 rooms. The building can house up to 30 million books, of which it contains around 10,800 documents, books and "on the spot guidance" Kim Il-sung wrote. Foreign publications are available only with special permission.Writings of Kim Jong-il are also included. Almost all materials "are kept within closed stacks accessible only to librarians and library staff. A person can search the online or print catalogues to discover what is in the collection...If a borrowed item is late, an official library notification is sent to the offender's employer, who must encourage his or her employee to immediately return it."

The library is the national centre of Juche studies, with one North Korean guide reporting to study the "Great Leader" Kim Il-sung and "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-il for a total of 90 minutes a day. Lectures on a variety of subjects also take place. Also, the Juche Tower - the physical manifestation of North Korea's Communist brand - is directly across from the library on the other side of the Taedong River. Kim Il Sung's "educational philosophy of 'study while working' is regarded as a guiding principle for the library system, as well as for those people who use the library. The library figures as a central component of 'study while working' - an educational place that North Koreans can visit and use to further their socialist training, increase their personal self-reliance through lifelong learning, and develop a greater love and respect for the Kim family...The placement of the Grand People's Study House and the Juche Tower across from each other is meant to cement the relationship between the people and Juche communism. The Grand People's Study House is therefore more than a prominent feature of the capital. It is also an icon of the nation, Juche communism, and the Eternal President himself."

It is quite a marvelous Library "indoctrination camp" for promoting Juche ideology among your citizens.
Best used with the DPRK collection of maps. For more itens of this collection check it out North Korea DPRK.

This building works as a huge religious building that converts your citizens into Juche religion.

Edit: Rotated the building 1.2 inches on the X axis and changed the script in the dead square and roads to attend to Frosty's request.

Thanks a lot to Comrade Ryan, Fox and Sky for teaching me how to mod properly. More itens coming soon.

Comrade polcorp thank you for your continuous support. Indeed socialist countries are against religion, but the people's hearts desire filling with purpose. There must be places of indoctrination so they become atheist or follow the State Juche. I made this mod mainly to the people to stop complaining that they miss going to church lol.

I wanted to congratulate you and thank you for this mod.
First of all, it's beautiful: the very elaborate details, the portraits on the facade that are bright at night, etc.
But above all, the idea is just brilliant. In my republic, I don't want a church : we are socialists. The idea of a library is a real stroke of genius.
It fits the game perfectly.

@Frosty i will take some time to rotate the model to match the Y and X axis with the simetry i just will have to figure out how to fix-script the bad road path. Give me some time buddy as i am learning as i get along.

@Frosty i see probably the issue is that i have to rotate an inch in the X axis on blender to get it more alined with the square simetry in the ground. As for the Dead Square linking the road connections in the side. I have tried to script that out but haven't actually managed to get rid of it. I do not have the knowledge on how to fix it yet, it is a scripting issue that i am figuring out how to manage.

@Frosty the mod has biletaral symetry as tested in Blender, i do had an issue with the texture in one side though as the UV Map had a bad unwrapp in Blender. But mostly i did looked for the equal sides.

@tripodalt i do have a university degree but in Blender i am mostly not experienced, but getting it by the day. I am testing the building in my DPRK map. It has already 10 years and the religious population haven't gone wild. 90% of the ingame citizens don't really go to the Churches, i don't know why. Also you can fight religion with the TV and Radio so it doesn't get out of control.

thanks for the comments guys.
Frosty 21 Jun, 2020 @ 3:04am
this building is very nice but it has no equal sides so its not straight and looks stupid cuz of that
tripodalt 20 Jun, 2020 @ 9:56pm

this item is kind of expensive tripodalt, but i have tried in my DPRK map, that i play in hard settings. It doesn't affect the frame rate in my PC. Also, i built 4 of the Library and it worked normally in all aspects, aside that most people ingame doesn't have an urgent need to get religious necessities met. I thought it kind of made sense that some itens are expensive and others are more cheap. As the Landmark items must be expensive to be unique and to discourage people from building multiple landmarks in their sessions.
