The Balance Of Powers

Description
UPDATE: There's a new version of this mod, overhauled to feel more natural, feel free to check it out:

I have always found very odd how in this game a nation can freely expand and, as long as they don't do it too fast, everyone will do nothing about it.
Rivals just sit calmly and watch as you slowly but surely eclipses them.
Regional powers sit with arms crossed as a potential rival emerges.
Small neighbors simply sit in line waiting for their time to be eaten.

Well, no more.
This mod introduces a new disaster for the balance of powers.
A nation will have a threshold of development they can get before the disaster starts ticking, defined by the sum of the development of the two most developed nations that rivaled you, with your ruler's DIP skill modifying that value by up to 30%.
Once the disaster fires, all rivals and neighbors will get a hefty chunk of AE on you, giving them ample conditions to form a coalition and strike.
Value well your allies to deter a possible coalition, or even let your rivals have a free hand on their own influence region (for them to expand so you can, in turn, expand as well), do what you must to navigate this new diplomatic challenge!

The mod isn't anti-blobbing per se, but it has the objective of making it more challenging and interesting!

PS.: Vassals do count towards that limit, except for colonies.
PS.2: TC provinces also don't count, except if they are from your religious group.
PS.3: Neighbors that will receive AE on you are limited to ones with 3x or less of your development limit

That sounds great actually. Honestly, this mod lead to some pretty weird situations, but overall after playing with it for a while the disaster did not hit nearly as often as I though it would. I evaluate it better than I did.

Alright, I believe I reached a compromise here.
Neighbors that will receive AE will be limited to ones with 3x or less the development of the nation.
It does make more sense now that a bigger neighbor would be weary of a new rival might be rising when their power is comparable.
So no more Ottomans in a coalition against Aq Qoyonlu :)

Ottomans and Mamluks joined a coalition against a small Aq Qoyonlu. RIP.
