Soma Cruz

Description
The newest incarnation of Dracula joins Rivals! Soma Cruz from the Castlevania series is here!

With his ability to utilize the souls of the monsters he defeats, Soma has a lot of options in combat. He has two separate sets of specials that can be switched between using Soma's DSpecial.

Most sprites are from Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
Character select portrait, victory background, preview image art, and BAir and UAir animations made by Dors, rapier sprite from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and small icon from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.

As of now, all of Soma's animations are present, though some things may end up still having some jank to work out. Pallete swaps are present, most of which referencing other characters from Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow, but they also affect some of the weapons and effects, an unavoidable side effect.
I'm also open to further feedback.

Special thanks to Dors for the sprites mentioned above, feedback, and just generally being a great dude, as well as the Rivals of Aether Discord server for technical help.

Best of luck to you, my guy

I really wish I could help, but I don't know shit about coding a character

I've seen a lot of feedback on the character. I feel like Soma would need to be reworked from the ground up to truly work. Of course, this iteration will still get patched, including balance changes and some support for other mods, but I won't be working on reworking Soma right now. Heck, I don't even know if I'll ever do it because i'm a lazy frick because I might not ever really be motivated to. But it is certainly something that may be on my mind in the future.

Oh, cool! If I continue to update this character (which seems to be necessary), I'll see if I can do something with that, and possibly other interactions, like Kirby's copy ability

Salameder is talking about the newest one by Harbige12. It is a boss fight against Dracula that you can have custom dialogue for your characters at the start of it, and he's wondering if you'll give Soma something to say to him.

@Salamender Which one?

@GodSlayerFenrir Wow, that's a lot. Some of the things involving Soma's height are unfixable with his current sprites, but I'm considering unique sprites. However, I might not be skilled enough in pixel art right now and I don't want to give the burden to Dors, so things might not happen. I'll try to fix these complaints.
And about the art, Dors has seen what has been said about the art. He hasn't really said anything other than that.

That art needs updating, it's all wrong.

Do you plan on added support with the Dracula boss stage

Originally, i wrote another comment, but steam is informing me that it's far too long. so, tl;dr: He's too tall and his jab flies over the heads of many characters as well as inflating his hurtbox. Side smash is too slow, and basically unusable on top of being unrewarding. Up/down smash are too fast and basically unpunishable. He basically has 4 different recovery moves (giant bat moves + whirlwind + dummy teleport) and the dummy is too slow for anything but a recovery. Fireball stays out way too long and is irritating as hell to deal with. His moves don't flow well, and he doesn't feel rewarding to play. I like the concept but the character needs work. Also the art makes it look like Soma's neck got snapped backwards and he can now look down at his shoulder blades.
