Lords of Waterdeep (Scripted by John McDonald)

Description
Lords of Waterdeep
Now with table space, and automation!

Game description from the publisher:

Waterdeep, the City of Splendors – the most resplendent jewel in the Forgotten Realms, and a den of political intrigue and shady back-alley dealings. In this game, the players are powerful lords vying for control of this great city. Its treasures and resources are ripe for the taking, and that which cannot be gained through trickery and negotiation must be taken by force!

In Lords of Waterdeep, a strategy board game for 2-5 players, you take on the role of one of the masked Lords of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your behalf, earning rewards and increasing your influence over the city. Expand the city by purchasing new buildings that open up new actions on the board, and hinder – or help – the other lords by playing Intrigue cards to enact your carefully laid plans.

During the course of play, you may gain points or resources through completing quests, constructing buildings, playing intrigue cards or having other players utilize the buildings you have constructed. At the end of 8 rounds of play, the player who has accrued the most points wins the game.

Features and quality of life changes from other popular implementations:
  • Unobtrusive scripted game setup (and will put away expansions and agents that are not in use)
  • Button to return agents home that lines up your available agents on your player mat
  • Click-to-collect resources, arranged beautifully on your player mat. Left click for 1, right click for 2 figures or 4 bucks
  • Fill buildings button
  • Fill and reset quests buttons
  • Button to collect a new agent of your color (Ambassador or Lieutenant)
  • Most things can be moved around or deleted with no scripting consequences (Except the main game board don't move that without also moving the related scripting zones).
    • Playing with only 2 players? Delete all but two player mats and move yours to the middle.
    • Don't like the expansion boards oriented the same way as the main board? Rotate it.
    • Want to put round victory points out yourself? Do it.
    • Hate a card in particular? Pull it out of the deck.
  • Scripts are small, isolated, and don't try to take over the game.
  • Table space. I hate the Kraken and its limited space per player. This is a virtual game, why put real-world restrictions on players? This uses the Flex Table by Mr. Stump. Table controls are left accessible should you need more space. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1169112551

Patch Notes
2020-Dec-01 - Correct minor script error that will occur if you load an in-progress game.
2020-Nov-08 - Remove missing asset. Nudged corruption bags up to get them out of the way of the completed quests.

@MouseyBloomTTV If I recall correctly: I did not include a trash can. You can either include one of the many available in the workshop, or just delete the unwanted items.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to discard gold/adveturers/VP tokens, etc?

Can't wait to try it this weekend. I'll upvote after we play (assuming things go well, as it appears it will).

Glad you're enjoying it! Thanks for letting me know about your issues. The missing asset was a trash can that I have now removed, and the completed quests were raised a bit due to the corruption bags. I've nudged those north to get out of the way.

Phenomenal mod; thank you very much! The scripting is very very well designed and it's a blast to play this online during the pandemic.

Two minor issues:
1) I get an asset load error for some google drive asset when I load the game, but I don't know what asset it is and haven't found anything missing so it must not be anything critical.
2) The scripted placement of the gold coins slightly overlaps with the completed quest card slot, so I have to move things out of the way at times.

Thanks man. It took way too long, but I hope that shows.

Very well done!
