Alyx's Nightmare

Description
About
This is a horror mod without scripted jump scares. Very low light and lots of zombies and headcrabs. You can either kill all the zombies by unlocking Health and Ammo rooms or you can try to complete/escape level by unlocking necessary rooms. Even there is no scripted jump scare, there is still high possibility for jump scares due to dark and headcrabs, be aware. Contains no story.

From the Creator
This is my first time with Hammer tool (I never used old Hammer or any other modding tool either) and my first mod for all games. I really like horror games and I liked the horror factor in HL:A while playing in dark areas. Also, one of my favorite chapters in HL universe is Ravenholm of course. So I tried to make a horror mod. It got me scared several times even if I knew what was happening. Please comment if you play, tell me your opinions. (Do not expect advanced level design or anything, as I said my first mod and completed in a short time.)

Notes
  • Detaching doors: This isn't an issue, I wanted to write this so you don't think it's a bug. It's a design choice to prevent player to hide or keep the zombies in a room. Also, it's not happening for all the doors for a reason.
  • Randomly dying NPCs: It happens so rarely, trying to solve.
  • Keycard Glowings: If you can't find keycards, don't give up fast. It will help you to find them after some amount of time.

Warning
This mod may cuase epileptic seizures for very small percentage of individuals since it contains flashing lights in dark areas.

Had fun eliminating all the Zombies in that dark environment.
It's a cool challenge cause you need to listen where the enemies are, approximate their position and use what is left of the light.

I don't think it's all that inferior. You used simple methods to achieve the desired result and that made it fun. Nice job!

@Skummeh thank you for your positive comment. I've watched your gameplay, you killed all the creators and completed the level without the need of extra health and ammo :) That small room was just for extra light, it had a switch inside and you pressed it but it might be unnoticeable. I know it's an inferior mod among other well-designed mods but this is my first-time-ever map :)

I was actually quite impressed with this map, which relied on simple but effective lighting tricks to create a survival horror atmosphere. Great work! https://youtu.be/zBluF_1lxok

@Willhart Actually it's all about to find the first "progressive" keycard. After that, every keycard that needs to befound to complete the level will glow with respective colors after an amount of time.

I think this map needs at least like two or three more red light things. Though maybe I was just unlucky. It took me a while to find the first keycard.
