Five months, one week, three days. Through the fall of 1942, the symbolic city of Stalingrad was torn asunder amidst one of the largest battles in history. Soviet reinforcements had to brave the perilous Volga River crossing into the city to join their comrades already fighting desperate German forces. The Soviet commander, Chuikov, encouraged his troops into deadly close-quarters battle, a physical embrace from which the German 6th army would never break free.

Blown out buildings, deadly chokepoints and key resources must be held if either side seeks to finally claim victory on this day.
