[WoTC] Custodian Pack

Beskrivelse
This mod adds six new Advent enemies, one new heavy armor, one new weapon, one new heavy weapon, one new grenade, one new vest, one new sit rep, and two new utility items. Custodians are tough meat shields with an incredibly powerful melee weapon and subpar mobility. Exalted Custodians are a "Boss Pod" like Sectopods, and Gatekeepers.

WHAT IS IN THIS MOD:

  • 6 New Advent Enemies, Advent Custodian, Advent Mark 2 Custodian, Custodian Master, Exalted Custodian, Exalted Custodian Grandmaster, and the Advent Courier, a special Advent enemy exclusive to the "Courier Staging Area" sit rep.
  • 1 new heavy armor, the Metion Battlesuit grants the soldier using it multiple skills, such as a jetpack, and a deployable shield to grant heavy cover to allies.
  • 1 new weapon, the Metion Magnetic Automatic Shotgun deals less damage than the beam and magnetic shotguns, but can fire multiple times in quick succession.
  • 1 new heavy weapon, the Custodian's melee Destroyer Cannon can be used as a heavy weapon.
  • 1 new grenade, the Mark 2 Custodian's Control Grenade is a combination grenade that acts as a flashbang, a smoke grenade, a standard frag grenade and causes bleeding.
  • 1 new vest, the Hyperdrive Serum vest requires an overdrive serum to build, and gives the user the ability to massively boost their HP while inflicting serious bleeding on themselves.
  • 1 new sit rep, the Courier Staging Area sit rep spawns couriers who will drop large amounts of valuables, however they're being guarded by Custodians, Custodian Masters, and Mark 2 Custodians.
  • 2 new utility items, the Flechette Gun, and the Braincord. The Flechette gun will inflict a large mobility penalty on anyone hit, while the Braincord is an item that will weaken every Advent enemy on the map for a short number of turns.

INFO:

ADVENT Custodian

ADVENT Custodians are lumbering meatshields equipped with a pistol and shotgun, they will attempt to get into melee range of your soldiers so they can use their powerful 20 damage dealing melee weapon on them.

ADVENT Mark 2 Custodian

Slightly more mobile than the standard custodian, mark 2 Custodians come equipped with numerous tools meant to try and stop you from fleeing, their autopistol has very poor accurracy but can hit multiple soldiers and while they have lost the destroyer gauntlet used by the standard Custodians, they can still bash you with their shields for decent damage.

ADVENT Custodian Master

Custodian Masters trade their pistol and shotgun for an assault rifle and rockets, making them more dangerous at a distance than their subordinates, however they still carry the destroyer gauntlet and will attempt to get in close to use it.

ADVENT Exalted Custodians, and ADVENT Exalted Custodian Grandmasters

Exalted Custodians and Grandmasters will always appear together as a boss pod(like Sectopods and Gatekeepers), they show up only once Force Level is maxed. Exalted Custodians are powered up variants of the standard Custodian, they possess an ability that allows them to convert any damage taken to mobility, their pistol has a secondary fire mode that allows them to fire it multiple times when said ability is on cooldown, and they will fire their pistol on anyone that approaches them. The Grandmaster on the other hand will utilize his powerful Network Proxy Command ability to massively buff all Advent currently in the map.

ADVENT Courier:

Fast but relatively fragile, Couriers use a lightweight smg that allows them to quickly run away and hide when a threat approaches, putting their Custodian escorts between them and the enemy. They have no abilities of any kind, but they are equipped with flashbangs. On death they will drop numerous valuables.

Changes from the standalone Custodian and Metion mods:

  • ADVENT Custodian Master and ADVENT Exalted Custodian Grandmasters now have reveal animations.
  • Slightly nerfed the aim of Exalted Custodians with their pistols and shotguns.
  • Metion battlesuit now properly shows stat bonuses on the armory.

KNOWN ISSUES:

None at the moment.

COMPATIBILITY:

Not compatible with:
  • [WoTC] Metion Automatic Shotgun
  • [WoTC] Standalone Metion BattleSuit
  • [WoTC] Standalone Exalted Custodians
  • [WoTC] Advent Custodians Standalone

Other than that there should be no incompatibilities, let me know if you find any.

FAQ:

Are there any tech rewards for killing these dudes?

Yes, each Custodian has their own autopsy research, which unlocks new items, weapons, and armor. Couriers do not have a tech reward, killing them for tons of cash is the only reward you get from them.

Do i need to start a new campaign for these dudes?

Theoretically no, but if you want to be on the safe side and make sure everything works then you should, make sure you refresh your .inis(You do this by deleting all the .inis within "Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config" and launching the game)

To-do list:

Nothing, after ten thousand years(or 3-ish years) the Custodian mod is complete.

It's true that regular custodians can be sometimes more troublesome than the exalted ones since you're still making the transition to plasma weapons, personally my advice would be to flashbang them and run past them towards the objective, they'll still take potshots and it can hurt if you're unlucky but that's how it is.

Each attack deals 19 damage + they have 30 defences lol. These units are more powerful than pods than FL 20 and yet they appear in FL 16

Yea just casually have a pod of 3 of them whereby each of them have like 40-60 hp that has a chance to 1 shot your character because it can attack twice per turn on top being ridiculously tanky

Or maybe even better, increase "Dodge" as well to compensate and reflect how well armored they are, bullet only grazing them.

Their defence is absurd though. They are standing in the open 99% of the time, it shouldn't be hard to hit them, even with poor aim. It would be much more logical to simply increase their shield bonus instead. Something like 0 Defence bonus for an additional 3-4 Shield bonus.

The pod is only 3 of them so it's fine, the main thing to keep in mind is that they're considered both humanoid and biological, meaning that stuff like the Templar's Void Conduit ability, insanity, flashbangs and so on are all capable of affecting them and you'll need it to restrict and control their movements.

In my LWOTC and mod jam campaign, I had 2 Couriers with 2 and 3 of their escorts respectively, but the Couriers dropped no loot. And just some very basic loot from 2 of their escorts.

From my experience, a good counter to these guys is Iridar's Stormrider class:

At captain rank, Stormriders can unlock the Riposte ability which allows them to nullify and counterattack any adjacent enemy which made a missing or grazing attack targeted at them.
By buffing your stormrider with as much dodge as possible (Serpent/Wraith suit, Agility PCS...) they will be able to dodge nearly every attack including the Custodian's pilebunker and riposte with a melee attack if they're next to them, let them tank the Custodian Trio while the rest of the squad does the objective or surrounds the custodians and wittles them down.
