Description
Not as detailed as Groxxy's TF2 Stylized textures (which is why I called mine TF2-Inspired), but it's somethin'. I may make it more in line with TF2's art style in a future update.

Compatability:
Works with reanimations and sound mods but not model replacements since it relies on the vanilla model.
This addon is also incompatible with retextures for the Desert Eagle / Deagle / Magnum because... it is one.

Credits
  • Me - Mainly the modded texture and edited other stuff -->
  • ihcorochris - I modified (well, butchered) the normal and exponent from Vanilla Weapons Reshaded in order to get this mod to even work so thanks bud!
  • Groxxy - I sourced the lightwarp texture from one of their addons with permission (thank you!)

Misc. Notes...
I originally wanted to just make this a .vtf replacement (the main texture) but in-game would still show the vanilla normal over the modded texture and I struggled to find a way to mod Valve's normal because I couldn't find it.
That is why I resorted to modifying ihcorochris' in order to actually get this to work.
After releasing the first version of this mod, I researched a bit further and realised that TF2 uses a texture thing called lightwarping and ihcorochris helped me implement that into this mod. Groxxy uses lightwarps in his TF2-style textures so I asked for permission to use his method and he granted it. Huge props to both of you guys!!
Also, I may need to update this mod because it doesn't 100% follow the art style of TF2. That game uses a brush stroke style in their textures and that isn't what I did for this.

Mainly it's compatible with Weapon Reanimations, that's all.

Yeah @Groxxy I found sites like that explaining how TF2 textures worked after I already made this mod and it was a pretty interesting eye-opener for me in slowly getting to know how Valve develops their Source games. The thing is though, I am currently stumped with Uni atm and wanted to push a mod like this up to be used in one of my Workshop Collections to get it off my mind for now lol. Now that I have a little better idea as to how to make these, I may make some more TF2-inspired weapon textures in the future when I have a lot more free time and possibly even update this mod to V3. Thanks again for the tips tho, I love how supportive this community is <3

Another suggestion and more of a stylization one, I'd suggest instead of just blurring the texture with a filter, you use that as a base and then paint over it using a TF2-like color palette and do it with tf2-like brush strokes, generally TF2's artstyle isn't just blurry compared to realism, it's completely hand painted, here's a link to a guide that goes into it far more. https://polycount.com/discussion/73559/texturing-for-team-fortress-2-a-short-guide

Thanks for the tip @ihcorochris! I'll try and do that in the next update

Suggest you add in a lightwarp texture, making the lighting on it pretty much the equivalent of TF2.

its a simple texture, but i think its cool, the effects from reflecations in desert eagle make the weapon a little weird
