Description
Howdy, Pardner!

You are just in time for the battle that's brewin' up here in Sagebrush County.

A couple years back they finished the big dam downriver and the old empty canyons are now part of the largest freshwater lake system in the West. The area around the dam is already bustlin' with real estate development, but here in Sagebrush things have been a lot slower to get goin', cause of the fightin', an' all.

There's three factions:

You've got the ranchers, who fought the dam and want the land exac'ly as it was - empty.

Then there's the tribe. They lobbied for the dam and plan to use its hydroelectric power to build a city large enough to sustain their new gamblin' enterprise. They are working closely with the real estate developers to attract marinas, fishing, houseboats -- you name it.

Then there are the frackers.

That's right. They discovered while blasting rock for the dam that the area is also on top of the largest gas reserves in the nation. It's deep, but there's a lot of it. They swear they can be "low impact" on the environment.

Now, you ask most people, they'll say there ain't nothing to see -- much less save -- up in ol' Sagebrush County.

But you ask this here ol' rancher, well, I reckon the barrel and saguaro cacti, the scrub pines, and the bright yellow Palo Verde trees are beautiful, in their own way, even before they added that "dam" lake.

What's a matter? You get it, don't you? "Dam" lake?

Oh, never mind. Git along, now!

I wanted a largely empty map without using sea. I found a good height map and went with it. Originally I wanted to give a player something to dam (and you still can?), but decided instead to focus on a man-made lake in the middle of a vast empty area of the American West.

There is, of course, no sea connection. The lake is for fishing, ferries, and marina boats only.

Inspired by places like Lake Havasu, Midland, Henderson, Salt Lake City but with a landscape different than all of those places, thanks to Owl's Los Angeles Theme.
