you can add something like urban sky horizon texture in your 3d skybox border which - in my opinion - improve feel of map becouse you wont have this clear cut to skybox which ignores fog effect. should be self explainatory if you would like try to add it, but if you had problem figuring out - on his youtube also can be found video tutorial about fog which covers that aspect,

i have games from valve so I guess that's whats fixed it
