Intro
Are u tired of having your ds4 plugged in all the time when playing MHW?

Fear not my friend, this guide is here for you!
Pair ds4 controller with your bluetooth
After pairing it's should be looked like this

If you don't know how to pair ds4 controllers, just press the ps button and share button for 3 seconds, the lightbar will begin to flicker, it mean controllers is ready to pair.

Also remove any other controllers like Xbox Wireless Controllers, Pro Con, etc
That's it :D
Ready to play!

One more thing!
If you are using ds4 controllers before just uncheck the "Playstation Configuration Support", or to be safe just uncheck everything

As you can see the ds4 still work without the configuration support.

After that, Restart your Steam.

Turn off your controllers and turn it back on, to get rid of steam config in your controllers.

Simply, if you want to play other games than MHW just check the configuration support, restart steam, and turn your controllers off and on.

If you are using DS4Windows

Just exit or stop the application.
workaround, kinda...
If the steps above doesn't work, you can try this practical method:
(it might be not working for everyone, but hey give it a shot)
  1. Use your controller with "Playstation Configuration Support" enabled in general controller settings.
  2. Make sure the controller is registered with your account.
  3. Start the game.
  4. After getting into the start screen, open the general controller settings again, and disable the configuration support.
  5. Turn off your controller and turn it back on.
  6. Back into the game.

"ps config is the problem"
I did a test on couple of games with the controller support a long time ago, the game was Killing Floor 2 and GTA V.
The ds4 controller with bluetooth works fine with the playstation configuration support, and it also seamlessly reconnect after several disconnection, but in monster hunter the controller seems like interfering with the ps configuration support, it works fine with wired but not on wireless bluetooth, I gotta admit that it sucks always playing with cables dangling on my lap, so my conclusion is monster hunter world doesn't work with the steam ds configuration when it comes to bluetooth, until steam fixes this issues.

@Bohain The Bear maybe, it rarely happened honestly, and it doesn't bother me at all since I'm only alt-tabing for discord

@TAYLORSWIFT i have yet to experience that issue, maybe you've got a bug in your software

@Bohain The Bear yes, using DS4 software works fine too, but there is small issue where the triangle and circle button won't respond after alt-tabing to another application, luckily there was an easy fix for it by simply pressing shift-tab 2x, at least that's what I'm experiencing with the DS4 software.

i recommend using the DS4 software same connection process but you dont have to deal with steam's shitty controller options

Nope second gen. And to clarify. Its steam connection via bluetooth that doesn't consistently works. The steam connection seems to only work via bluetooth, at least for me, once the ds4 windows drivers are loaded in with the controller.
