Description
This mod let you control the L-Cluster access by open / close and build L-Gates, if you are the ruler of Terminal Egress. This is an addon and stand-alone mod from A Deadly Tempest.



Once you researched the “L-Cluster Access Control” technology, you will get an unique decision and an artifact action, that allows you to close or open the access to the L-Cluster. However in order to set the actions, you must be in control of Terminal Egress (the only L-Cluster gateway, if also having the common Gateway Activation technology, you need also nanites and not an ongoing Tempest crisis). The decisions is at your capital.


Buildable L-Gates:
In order to build L-Gates you must have the “L-Gate Construction” technology (with prerequisite of the common Gateway Construction) and be in control of Terminal Egress too. However the L-Gates must be built at a black hole that does not already have an L-Gate built. The visual representation of the two states is now conspicuous like normal gateways. (In fact the vanilla game has already unused/inactive entries for this, as I see now this was used in the first release of 2.1 Niven, if you see old release pictures with blue gates.)

On the plus side, if there is ever a crisis you cannot beat, you now have a safe retreat while the galaxy burns behind you. (I recommend getting the Gigastructural Engineering mod to build all that population space your going to need for all those refugees or just your pops one or the other.)

For Nanite technologies, weapons, ships, bombing, terraforming and of course a more dangerous Gray Tempest, subscribe to A Deadly Tempest.


This mod should be savegame compatible.
Currently, if you remove this mod on an ongoing game with this mod started – before the L-Cluster was opened – this can lead to inoperable deactivated L-Gates (if you don't use A Deadly Tempest instead). Maybe I'll fix this.

This is always a necessary mod for my list.

I have run into one issue, using Giga and the EHOF, I had two blackholes spawn in the cohesive cluster with deactivated l-gates that cannot be activated. I had already opened and colonized the cluster. I tried removing the l-gates [effect remove_megastructure = this] so I could rebuild them, but I can't seem to remove whatever flag is keeping me from doing so. The black holes don't have the "has_megastructure" flag, they have a "cant_build_here" flag which I am assuming is from Gigastructures? Not the end of the world, I figure it might be due to how the spawning works for the cohesive worlds, but if you have any ideas, I'm all ears.

Any luck with the concept of the player getting access to the L-cluster system by building the L-gates? Understand things take time, just curious if you’ve looked into it further!

How to use it? The research suggests that the L-star gate can be closed on the control panel at the terminal exit, but I haven't found how to operate it:steambored:

@Testakill: yes would be, but it would be some effort as I need to implement an menu on game start. Let me think about it (not that bad idea).

Is it possible to have L-gates disabled as a game setting option, but still be able to build L-gates as the player and have it spawn? I hate how L gates are implemented in game/vanilla and how rare they can be to find (might be how I have gateways set to spawn, but only two L-gates ever generate). Would be nice to still have the L-gates but not have to worry about the Ai empires/crisis having other l-gates and using them.
