What's this?

Replace headcrab and zombie sounds with their counterparts from Half-Life: Alyx.
Now prepare to ♥♥♥♥ your pants as the zombies will cry and beg for help instead of hiss and screech.

Half-Life 2 reversed burning screams were used instead since you can't burn zombies in Half-Life: Alyx (so there's no burning screams to use). Being reversed mean they "OH GOD HELP ME" instead of "YABBA MY ICING".

ZEV variant included.

Recommendations for maximum PTSD

Supersonic Bullet Crack Sound Mod
Good supersonic bullet crack sounds to trigger your PTSD while being shot at by HECU marines.

Half-Life: Alyx Barnacle Sound Mod
Gross.

Realistic Inertial Ragdoll 2
Enemy humans drop death realistically when killed. Remove potential humor during fights with enemy humans, making it feels more serious to kill people.

Do I need to do the "snd_restart" phrase in the console, or does this just work automatically after I am done putting it in my custom folder?

Unfortunately yeah the animations would be too much. Source 1's animation processes are largely incompatible with Source 2's. They are able to be converted with heavy editing, as some have managed to do it with the Combine. But HLA's animations are half files and half procedural based on the world and player movement.
