Trace's Better Lithoids Lite

Description
This is a mod that sets out to improve the Lithoids DLC portraits with more diversity and colours, plus integrates the abandoned Silfae's Silicoids mod with brand new original looks and fixes.

- Lithoid portraits have much more variety in colour and detail, with more coming each update. Some portraits have as much as double the appearances with a greater range of shape over base portraits. Original palettes maintained sensibly.

- Adds new portraits edited from vanilla files to fit visual niches unused in vanilla. Current focus is more civilised, less bestial 'humanoid' shape Lithoids. There's even Lithoid clothing.
There's so many portraits the vanilla game portrait list can't show them all - I advise using a UI rescale mod.

- Portraits will show up as AI empires, for more potential variation and replayability.

- Revives the Silicoid mod by Silfae.* It's been merged into the Lithoid portrait set, and not content with merely updating I've allocated voice files, improved scaling, made graphical fixes, made original new appearances and a redux of that 'troubled' portrait with a big hole through the torso.

_____________________________________________________

This is the 'Lite' / lightweight version that ONLY has new Lithoid portraits and diversity for the originals, one of the two rooms, and files I needed to include.

This was made at request, the main mod is much more compatible now, but not everyone wants traits or rebalancing.

Should be achievement compatible but the checksum is so strict I can't promise it.

* I am against plagiarism or content reupload, but I felt it was worth continuing Silfae's work, since they haven't touched modding for years. I see it as acceptable to add the pack into Lithoids.
If they're objected to me doing this I'll take the portraits out, but the OG mod is broken so somebody has to fix it.

Besides I've actually been fixing and improving their work and have now added whole new appearances.

I recommend 'Random Species Names' for many more Lithoid names:

It's not actively updated but here is another, more synthetic, Lithoid shipset:

Thanks to Cavmanic for help and allowing me to reverse engineer his fixes!

So. The launcher uploaded the light version over the main version, I am honestly as humoured as I am annoyed.

Basically, it kept trying to change the Steam ID to the other's, I set it to read only to stop it but last night it stopped allowing that, complaining about not being able to change local files, guess I forgot what would happen.

I think I'm forced to stop updating the light version, maybe trim fat from the main version to have one middle ground.

I appreciate the quick resolution. :)

Okay done!
Pretty typical - Under 5 minutes to fix, over 20 minutes to troubleshoot the launcher so I could upload.

Thanks for the encouragement and the report.

I checked the file, you're actually right, I'm glad it didn't totally break the game (since I don't use this version of the mod) but there should have been a } on line 10 to close "room_selector = { "
With a quick check that it runs like normal, I'll upload a tiny update and mention you in the notes.

I really enjoy what this mod does to lithoids and I'm grateful for the time you & Cavmanic have put in. :)

While checking the mod with Irony, I noticed it was throwing up some exceptions. Looks like the file 'gfx/portraits/asset_selectors/Better_Lithoids_Lite_room_textures.txt' might be missing a closing brace (line 8?).

Chucking the errant file into pycharm, I also noticed a handful of erroneous whitespaces at the end of line 5. Though I'd like to think the compiler would ignore those. ;)

I've copied the full irony error below:

Error in gfx/portraits/asset_selectors/Better_Lithoids_Lite_room_textures.txt:
Ln: 7 Col: 2
}
^
Note: The error occurred at the end of the input stream.
Expecting: closing brace, statement or whitespace
Other error messages:
The clause opened at
("gfx/portraits/asset_selectors/Better_Lithoids_Lite_room_textures.txt", Ln:
1, Col: 17) was not closed.

I myself am using UI Overhaul Dynamic - https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1623423360

Though that 1080p one which I think is most subscribed mod on Workshop should work too. Anything that resizes the window and/or adds a scrollbar, to get past the vanilla two row limit.

Bumped- the UI mod your using would help, I'd love to see the rest of the portraits. Obligatory Thanks for continuing the original mod aswell.

Yeah. This doesn't require any specific mod, but the base game often doesn't show the scrollbar in the species menu any more, but mods fixed it for me.

I may add this to the description.

Thanks.

Oh, you mean I need a UI Overhaul Mod? Okay, I'll research this and see if I can figure out where it comes from.
