Radio controller for 1x1 monitor

Description
This controller makes your radios close to reality. It offers the following features:
- Channels 01 to 28 and 60 to 88 with their corresponding frequencies
- Simplex and Duplex channels
- Watch Mode (including priority channel)
- Scan Mode
- Backlight
- Port/Ship location

-= Please do not reupload this controller =-

Channels:
You can change the channels with two pushbuttons, the active channel will be shown in the center of the screen. A [S] or [D] behind the channel number indicates if it's a simplex/duplex channel. Channel 16 is predefined for International Distress, Safety and Calling and cannot be modified. A priority channel can be defined in the properties for the watchmode.

Frequencies:
The frequencies this controller can handle are between 156.025MHz (channel 60 TX) and 162.000MHz (channel 28 RX). However, the frequency output sends the frequencies in kHz (integer numbers), e.g. channel 01 will output 156050 (when transferring) and 160650 (when receiving). The active frequency will be shown on the bottom of the screen.
In Port Mode, tx and rx will be swapped.

Signal Strength:
The signal strength of broadcasts will be shown in the top right corner (1 to 4 bars) If you don't connect the signal strength input (small antenna) scanmode isn't working as intended.

Watch mode:
This mode monitors priority channels and the currently selected channel. There are two types of watchmode:
• Dual watch - This mode monitors priority channel 16 and the currently selected channel.
• Triple watch - This mode monitors prioritychannel 16, the second priority channel and the currently selected one.
You can enter/leave the watch mode by pressing the mode-pushbutton.

Scan mode:
Scan mode enables automatic searching for channels that are currently broadcasting. Scan mode will search through available channels and stop when it finds a channel that is currently broadcasting. If the broadcast stops or is lost for more than 5 seconds then the scan will resume. When the scan reaches the last channel in the band the scan cycle is repeated. The following scans options are available:
• All - All channels are scanned in sequence.
• All+16 - All channels are scanned, after each channel is scanned priority channel 16 is scanned.
You can enter the scan mode by pressing th mode-pushbutton for 3 seconds.

Ship location/Port location:
If you select a duplex channel you can only communicate between a ship-radio and a port-radio. Use a simplex channel if you want to talk to everybody. If you use your radio on a ship/plane/car set the mode to ship and if you use it in your base set it to port.

Controls:
composite inputs #1 and #2 change the channel
composite input #3 enables the watch mode (short press) and the scan mode (long press)
composite input #4 enables the controller.
composite input #5 turns on the backlight (tints the background in the color defined in the properties as RRGGBB-value).
transmitting (external input) enables the transmitting mode (switch to the tx frequency and set the radio antenna to transmit)

Controller size: 3x2

Inputs:
- Signal Strength (number): from the radio antenna - signal strength
- Controls (composite): see "controls" in the upper section
- Transmitting (on/off): enables the transmitting, link this to the microphone or a button

Outputs:
- Video Out (video): to the 1x1 monitor
- Frequency [kHz] (number): to the radio antenna. The output is an integer in kHz!
- Transmit Mode (on/off): to the radio antenna

Properties:
- location (toggle) [ship/port]: the location where the radio should be
- scan mode (toggle) [all/all+16]: set the scan mode to sequencially or alternating between 16 an other channels
- watch mode (toggle) [dual/triple]: without or with the priority channel
- priority channel (number): the priority channel for the watch mode
- background color (RRGGBB) (text): The color ia RGB-value for the backlight mode

Another solution: update AMD drivers from official website, works for me.

If the monitor stays dark, you encountered the stormworks bug, which sometimes effected the video out of the lua module. I hope they will fix it soon. But please verify if you hooked up an instrument panel. On channel #4 then device will be switched on/off. it's not made for a touch screen.

I have obsessively combed over the setup and I can't get it to work. Has an update broken it?

I like the design!

Glad you like it. You can use it and upload your vehicle with this controller to the workshop. Keep in mind, that the frequency numbers are very high, so everybody in multiplayer has to use these frequencies. I have also a radio controller for the "normal" frequencies in my workshop.

Love it, pretty much identical in everyway to real life VHF radios i use at work, is it okay if i use this on my vessels im working on to upload to the workshop? I will give full credit in the description ofcourse

Of course you have to hook the microphone to the antenna as usual and to the controller to stop scanning mode when you talk.
Brygun 27 Jan, 2021 @ 12:39am
Does this include using the microphone to transmit?

This is part of the instrument panel block

Here is the basic version, which use channel numbers instead of frequencies. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2237493577
