Introduction
These are the builds I made for Vermintide 2 Wiki reform project. All these builds can now be found on the corresponding wiki page.
The purpose of these builds is not to provide an optimal 'one and only build' for each career, but giving the general idea of how to build around every career's weaponry and talent, since all weapons are very viable on Legend difficulty.
Breakpoints in these builds are calculated for Legend difficulty with 650 hero power.
How to use this guide
Find your career

Choose the playstyle you prefer in Build Frame section

Choose weapons you prefer and using the Recommendation chat as a guideline

Tweak none-essential talents and non-essential melee weapon properties/traits to your own needs

With the Stagger System introduced in Patch 2.0, most of the melee breakpoints become unstable and meaningless. The only exception in this guide is Slayer's Two-handed weapon build.
Other than that, only range weapon/charm properties should be followed strictly for good Specials/Elites breakpoint performance.

Mercenary
1. General Playstyle
As a melee frontline career, Mercenary should funnel enemies in front of you as much as you can and buy space for your range focused and squishier teammates. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on the weaker mobs first then help your team deal with the Boss. Or pull the Boss aggro onto you so your low-health teammates have a better chance surviving.

2. Recommended Range Weapon Choice
All range weapons are very viable on Mercenary. Only on certain builds, one range weapon can outperform others.

3. Build Frame
Horde focus build
https://www.ranalds.gift/heroes/1/121222/34,1,3,6/14,3,8,7/2,3,1/1,4,2/3,2,2
Description:
This build is meant for horde damage focused playstyle.
With this build, you should prioritize on horde damage. When there are Elites mixed inside a bunch of mobs, try to peel horde mobs away from them and focus on mobs, so other Elites killing careers have more space to do what they are good at.

The core talent of this build is Level 10 talent Limb-Splitters and Level 20 talent Enhanced Training. Limb-Splitter can make your melee weapon hit around 50% more enemies per swing, and Enhanced Training boosts your attack speed more to increase your crowd control ability.

Recommend to pair with melee weapons like Two-Handed Sword, Sword, Mace and Sword, Spear. Or use it to boost other types of weapon’s damage on horde.

Elites focus build
https://www.ranalds.gift/heroes/1/212122/18,1,3,6/14,3,8,7/2,3,1/1,4,2/3,2,2
Description:

This build is meant for Elites damage focused playstyle.
With this build, you should prioritize at Elites. When there are Elites mixing inside a bunch of mobs, try to find an opening and quickly kill them with your high single target damage.

The core talent of this build is Level 10 talent The More the Merrier and Level 20 talent Reikland Reaper. Both of these talents can increase your raw power, giving you up to 40% extra damage against Elites.

Recommend to pair with melee weapons like Executioner Sword, Halberd, Mace. Or use it to boost other types of weapon’s damage to Elites.
Huntsman (Part 1)
1. General Playstyle
As a range damage career, Huntsman should always put Special killing as your first priority. Then depending on your choice of range weapon, focus on Elites or Horde Mobs until you reach a point where you need to use melee weapon to block or generate Temporary Health. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on it as soon as there are no other threats for you on the map. However, you still need to pay attention and help your team against Specials.

2. Recommended melee weapon choice
Weapons with good Temporary Health regeneration and good defensive capabilities work better on range careers like Huntsman.

With this build, you can one-shot Gutter Runner on body and two-shot rest of Skaven/Chaos Specials. Also two-shot most of Elites and three-shot Plague Monk/Savage. Chaos Warrior needs multiple headshots.

Your Level 10 talent Keep it Coming does not cosume nor require reloading for the free shot, giving you better ammo sustain and higher DPS, and reduce your vulnerability window. Level 20 talent Makin’ It Look Easy provides a better damage output and better ammo sustainability. Level 30 talent Concealed Strikes provides better survivability and helps you deal damage more safely.

Prioritize killing Elites/Specials first. Then melee the rest of the enemies.

Your Level 10 talent Keep it Coming does not cosume nor require reloading for the free shot, giving you better ammo sustain and higher DPS, and reduce your vulnerability window. Level 20 talent Thrill of the Hunt provides reload speed, which is very important for a slow reload weapon like Handgun. Level 30 talent Concealed Strikes provides better survivability and helps you deal damage more safely.

Prioritize killing Elites/Specials first. Then melee the rest enemies.

*For Chaos Warrior, You need two headshots or one headshot with Hunter's Prowl.

If you are confident with your aim, use Hunter on your range weapon instead of Scrounger for more damage.

Your Level 20 talent Makin’ It Look Easy provides a better damage output and better ammo sustainability. Level 30 talent Concealed Strikes provides better survivability and helps you deal damage more safely.

Prioritize killing Elites/Specials first. Then spam quick arrows to clean lined-up Horde Mobs. Switch to melee to kill Horde Mobs when they get close.

With this build, you can one-shot all Skaven/Chaos Specials on the body at close range. You can also one-shot Mauler and Plague Monk/Savage on the body, but for Stormvermin/Bestigor you need two shots on the body or one with most of pellets landing on their head.

Your Level 20 talent Thrill of the Hunt provides reload speed, which is very important for a slow reload weapon like Blunderbuss. Level 30 talent Blend In provides better ammo sustainability since Blunderbuss is very ammo hungry.

Level 10 talent can use Keep it Coming, trading some Super Armor /Armor damage for better ammo sustain.

Prioritize killing high density Horde Mobs, Elites and close range Specials first. Switch to melee when enemies get too close.
Footknight
1. General Playstyle
As a melee frontline career, Foot Knight should funnel enemies in front of you as much as you can and buy space for your range focused and more squishier teammates. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on the weaker mobs first then help your team deal with the Boss. Or pull the Boss aggro onto you so your low health teammates have a better chance surviving.

Shield weapon focus build
https://www.ranaldsgift.com/3/131121/21,7,3,3/11,1,5,7/3,2,1/7,3,2/3,2,2
Description:

This build is meant for shield weapons except Spear & Shield.
With this build, you should prioritize on crowd control. Utilize your Shield Push and Shield Bash to stagger all types of Horde Mobs and Elites so your team can safely dish out damage on them.

The core talent of this build is Level 10 talent Crowd Clearer and Level 25 talent Counter-Punch. Crowd Clearer increases your Shield Push-Shield Bash combo speed, boosts both your damage output and crowd control ability. Counter-Punch gives you free push after blocking which means free stagger for your team and free Temporary Health for yourself from push.

Recommend to pair with Sword and Shield, Mace and Shield.

Low push/push attack consumption build
https://www.ranaldsgift.com/3/222111/18,1,3,6/12,3,7,2/3,2,1/4,1,2/3,2,2
Description:

This build is meant for melee weapons/playstyle that don’t use push/push attack a lot in your combo.
With this build, you should utilize the high stagger moveset on your weapon or your career skill to stagger Elites from time to time in order to get the 15% power boost. If your weapon lack stagger power or Elites are out of reach, you can shoot them with your range weapon once which can stagger most of Elites.

The core talent of this build is Level 10 talent Have at Thee. With the long duration of Have at Thee and low cooldown of your career skill, you can receive 15% power boost basically all the time on high difficulty where Elites are very common across the whole map.

Recommend to pair with melee weapons like Two-Handed Sword, Executioner Sword, Two-Handed Hammer, Bretonnian Longsword.

High push/push attack consumption build
https://www.ranaldsgift.com/3/232111/19,4,2,6/14,3,8,7/3,1,1/4,1,2/3,2,2
Description:

This build is meant for melee weapons/playstyle that use push/push attack a lot in your combo.
With this build you should utilize your push/push attack to get an attack speed boost, which helps you to activate Swift Slaying and kill Elites faster. But you should still be conservative on stamina usage and stop unnecessary push spam if you have already activated Swift Slaying.

The core talent of this build is Level 10 talent Crowd Clear and using stamina as Properties on both melee weapon and Necklace. Trading your high stamina with a decent amount of attack speed to boost your damage output.

Recommend to pair with melee weapons like Halberd, Sword, Mace, Mace and Sword, Spear and Shield.
Grail Knight (Part 1)
1. General Playstyle
As a melee frontline career, Grail Knight should funnel enemies in front of you as much as you can and buy space for your range focused and squishier teammates. Due to the lack of range weapons (most of the time), you need to try your best to Tag Specials and protect those range careers that can help you deal with them. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on the weaker mobs first then help your team deal with the Boss. Or pull the Boss aggro onto you so your low health teammates have a better chance of surviving.

2. Recommended Melee Weapon Choice

Recommend to use one Horde clear weapon + one Elites burst weapon. Or use one All-rounded weapon + a Shield weapon. For Level 5 talent option, unless you are playing with a lot of range careers or heavily rely on shield, Lady's Wrath is always better.

Ranger Veteran (Part 1)
1. General Playstyle
As a range based utility career, Ranger Veteran should always put Special killing as your first priority. Then depending on your choice of range weapon, focus on Elites or Horde Mobs. However, due to your career’s feature and melee weapon choice, you should not hesitate to join the melee fight and give up your safe position to other pure range careers when it’s necessary. When there is a Boss on the field, clear the roaming mobs around your range DPS, help other melee career deal with Specials. Damaging Boss should be the last thing on your priority list.

2. Recommended melee weapon choice
Depending on your range weapon, Ranger Veteran should choose different melee weapons for different purposes.

For Last Resort build, keep only one axe in your hand to one shot most of Elites when you are pushing. When the horde is coming, throw away all your axes and leave one in front of you. Use Last Resort to boost your melee damage, and pick up the axe on the ground to kill specials.
Iron Breaker
1. General Playstyle
As a melee frontline career, Iron Breaker should funnel enemies in front of you as much as you can and buy space for your range focused and more squishier teammates. Even with Drakefire weapon, you should still secure your teammate’s safety then start using Drakfire Pistol/Drakegun. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on the weaker mobs first then help your team deal with the Boss. Or pull the Boss aggro onto you so your low health teammates have a better chance surviving.

Drakefire Pistol build
https://www.ranaldsgift.com/5/212213/5,1,3,6/7,4,5,8/3,2,5/3,5,2/3,2,2
Description:

This build is meant for Drakefire Pistol.
With this build, you should prioritize on horde damage with your range weapon. When there are Elites mixed inside a bunch of mobs, aggressively use Drakefire Pistol to peel horde mobs away from them and then focus on Elites.

The breakpoints of this build various with your heat level. On average, you can three shot-bodyshot Infantry Specials and Berserker Elites, four shot-bodyshot Packmaster and Mauler with left click. Armored Specials need three leftclick headshots. For Horde Mobs, you can 1~2 blast kill Skaven horde, 2~3 blast kill Chaos horde, 3+ blasts kill Beastman horde.

The core talent of these builds is Level 10 talent Drakki Wrath and Level 30 talent Booming Taunt. Drakki Wrath provides the most consistent damage boost to your Drakefire weapons. For Level 30 talent. Booming Taunt makes your career skill more valuable than other options since with Drakefire weapon you can’t do too much other than blocking. 50% more free DPS time for your team is better than 20% damage increase.

Recommend to pair with melee weapons like Axe, Hammer, Great Axe, War Pick, Two-handed Hammer, Cog Hammer.

Drakegun build:

If there are only couple Elites mixed inside horde, start charging your Drakegun and kill them with Horde Mobs. Otherwise switch to your melee weapon to stagger them.

Due to the lack of long range damage, you need to try your best to Tag Specials and protect those range careers that can help you deal with them.
With Drakegun, you need to use left click burst for single target damage, and charge stream attack for everything else. You need some practice to learn using as little charge time as possible to kill different types of Horde Mobs with your charge stream attack.

The core talent of these builds is Level 10 talent Drakki Wrath and Level 30 talent Booming Taunt. Drakki Wrath provides the most consistent damage boost for your Drakefire weapons. For Level 30 talent, Booming Taunt makes your career skill more valuable than other options since with Drakefire weapon you can’t do too much other than blocking. 50% more free DPS time for your team is better than 20% damage increase.

Recommend to pair with melee weapons like Axe, Hammer, Great Axe, War Pick, Two-handed Hammer, Axe and Shield, Cog Hammer.

Outcast Engineer (Part 1)
1. General Playstyle
As a range damage career, Outcast Engineer should always put Special killing as your first priority if your weapon/career skill set allows, and then focus on Horde Mobs. Your melee weapon mostly serves as an anti-armour tool, create space and farm temporary Health. Even with some builds that are designed to boost your melee damage, your range weapons are still better against high-density enemies. When there is a Boss on the field, clean Horde Mobs and Specials, then help your team deal with the Boss.

2. Recommended Melee Weapon Choice
Depends on your build, Outcast Engineer should choose different melee weapons for different purposes. Only Axe is not recommended since it has poor temporary Health generation and low crowd control ability.

With left click, you can one shot kill Skaven horde units, 1~2 shot kill Chaos horde units, 2 shot kill Beastman horde units. With right click blast, you can oneshot Skaven horde units, 2~3 shot Chaos horde units and 3 shot Beastman horde units.
For Elites, use Drakfire Pistol left click for close range Infantry/Berserker Elites, and Crank Gun for Armoured/long range Elites. Prioritize killing high density Horde Mobs and unarmoured Elites and Specials. Try to melee kill a low health unit to get generated crit before shooting armoured Elites and Specials. Switch to melee when enemies get too close.
Zealot
1. General Playstyle
As a melee frontline career, Zealot should funnel enemies in front of you as much as you can and buy space for your range focus and more squishy teammates. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on the weaker mobs first then help your team deal with the Boss. Or pull the Boss aggro onto you so your low health teammates have a better chance surviving.

2. Recommended Range Weapon Choice
The breakpoint list here is when Zealot has 6 stacks of Fiery Faith passive. All range weapons are very viable on Zealot, with Brace of Pistols and Crossbow perform better than others most of the time.

Warrior Priest of Sigmar (Part 1)
1. General Playstyle
As a melee frontline career, Warrior Priest should funnel enemies in front of you as much as you can and buy space for your range focused and squishier teammates.

Or use one All-rounded weapon + a Defensive weapon. For Level 5 talent option, use Enternal Vigilance if you use shield bash attack a lot, otherwise Slayer of the Wicked is always better.

Battle Wizard (Part 1)
1. General Playstyle
As a range damage career, Battle Wizard should always put Special killing as your first priority if your weapon/career skill set allows. Then depends on your choice of range weapon, focus on Elites or Horde Mobs until you reach a point where you need to vent. Or you have to switch to melee weapon to block or generate Temporary Health. Even with some builds that are designed to boost your melee damage, your range weapons are still better against high-density enemies. When there is a Boss on the field, clean Horde Mobs and Specials, then help your team deal with the Boss.

For Boss, use full charged fireball first to apply max DoT, then use quick charged fireball. Use your melee weapon to generate Temporary Health when you have no health to vent. Or clean up some left alone armoured units. So choose melee weapons that have high damage against Armoured units. Use the double Firewalk to stagger high threat units, or reposition yourself.

Flamestorm Staff build

Description:

With Flamestorm Staff build, you need to learn the least amount of charge time you need to kill different types of units, so you can optimize your damage uptime. And try your best to Tag Specials for your team.

Your level 10 talent Lingering Flame is the most consistent one for Flamestorm Staff on this row. It also makes your damage against Armoured units and Boss very consistent. The level 30 talent Burnout can give you more time and space to charge them when enemies are rushing towards you. Or use it to clear a path and stagger Specials, chain stagger Elites/Boss twice in a row.

Prioritize killing Horde Mobs and Elites with Infantry/Berserker armour first. Then melee Armoured units with your melee after they have fire DoT on them, so choose weapons with high damage on armour. Though it is still better to use your staff when there are multiple Armoured units unless they are Chaos Warrior. Use the double Firewalk to stagger high threat units, get close and safely kill Specials and reposition yourself.

Conflagration Staff build
https://www.ranalds.gift/heroes/13/133113/3-1-3-6/48-4-5-6/3-2-1/5-4-2/3-2-3

Your level 10 talent Lingering Flame is the most consistent one for Fireball Staff. And level 30 talent Burnout can give you more time and space to charge them when enemies are rushing towards you. Or use it to chain stagger Elites/Boss twice in a row.

Prioritize staggering Specials and Elites with low charge geyser attack first. Then charge your attack as much as you can to kill Horde Mobs more efficiently. Use your melee weapon to generate Temporary Health when you have no health to vent. Or clean up some left alone armoured units. Choose melee weapons that apply a good amount of DoT since it can benefit from your talent. If the density is too high, use your career skill to instantly kill most of them.

Prioritize killing Elites/Specials first. Then spam your level1 charge attack to clean lined-up Horde Mobs. Use your melee weapon to kill Horde Mobs when they get close, so choose a melee weapon with high horde damage. Use the double Firewalk to stagger high threat units, or reposition yourself.

Prioritize killing close range Specials first. Then focus on Horde Mobs with your staff. Always try to fully charge your Coruscation Staff. Use minimal charged fire pit attack to make sure most enemies are stand inside them. Use your melee weapon to generate Temporary Health when you have no health to vent. Try to put fire pit under Armoured Elites and Monster, it does massive damage to all types of units.
Pyromancer
1. General Playstyle

Description:
These builds are meant for casting focus playstyle.
With these builds, you should prioritize killing high density Horde Mobs with your staff. Use your Temporary Health to vent to keep casting and keeping rotating yourself to a safer place. Use your melee weapon to generate Temporary Health when you have no health to vent. Or clean up some left alone armoured units. So choose melee weapons that have high damage against Armoured units. Your career skill can regenerate tons of Temporary Health, bursting down high health Elites or picking up Specials in long distance.

With Beam Staff build, you can two shot-bodyshot all Skaven/Chaos specials with instant snipe attack. The blast attack can kill Skaven Horde Mobs in one shot, Chaos/Beastman in two shot.

Your level 10 talent Spirit-Casting helps Beam and Conflagration Staff most since they all heavily benefit from Heat Sink. Ride the Fire Wind boosts Fireball and Flamestorm Staff more because these two staff doesn’t spand a lot of heat each channel and need to be cast constantly.
Your level 20 talent Deathly Dissipation helps most of the staff here. With 10 seconds of infinity heat, you can burst out tons of damage and crowd control. For Flamestorm Staff, you lack the ability to kill Specials and require long channelling time which is a total waste of that 10 seconds window. So use On the Precipice instead since you can manage your heat high without exploding with Flamestorm Staff easily.

So choose a melee weapon with all-around ability for all types of situations. However your range weapon still performs better when you are at low heat or Horde Mobs are grouped up, so don’t hesitate to retreat a bit and switch back to staff for a while. Use your career skill can regenerate tons of Temporary Health, bursting down high health Elites or picking up Specials in long distance.

With Beam Staff build, you can two shot-bodyshot all Skaven/Chaos specials with instant snipe attack. The blast attack can kill Skaven Horde Mobs in one shot, Chaos/Beastman in two shot.

Your level 10 talent Martial Study and level 20 talent One with the Flame gives you a great melee damage boost. The higher heat you have, the more melee damage you deal. If you can keep your Temperory Health high, you can choose Spirit-Casting on level 10 instead for more DPS.

With Beam Staff build, you can two shot-bodyshot all Skaven/Chaos specials with instant snipe attack. The blast attack can kill Skaven Horde Mobs in one shot, Chaos/Beastman in two shot.

Soulstealer Staff build

Description:
These builds are meant for meant for casting focus playstyle that prioritize killing Elites and Specials. You should use your range weapon to focus on all tagable enemies until you reach a point where you need melee weapon to block or generate Temporary Health. When there is a Boss on the field, focus on it as soon as there are no other threats for you on the map. However, you still need to pay attention and help your team on Specials.

Both Bolt Staff and Soulstealer Staff can oneshot all Specials and Elites with their strongest attack, except super armour units.

Your level 20 talent Cursed Blood combine with level 30 talent Barrow Blades provides extra AoE and stagger control on the horde, and level 25 talent Lost Souls allows you to constant spam range attacks without worrying about THP.

The sister of the thorn builds have each others weapons equipped.

"This build is meant to be used with fast hit or high cleave weapons." - has dual swords
"This build is meant to be used with fast hit or high crit chance weapons." - has glaive, the glaive is NOT one of the fast hit high crit weapons

The bleed build def works better with glaive, and the aoE CRIT build works best with the dual swords (a CRIT weapon) hahah

a minor mistake

On the engineer part 2 section, it advises 10% vs Chaos on both the handgun and the charm, and no mention of vs Skaven (even re melee choice). But the build link to Ranalds Gift shows both 10% vs Chaos and 10% vs Skaven on the Charm.

Which one is correct?

Thanks as always for your awesome guides.

It's up to date. You probably looking at the wrong number/wrong version.

I'm trying to calculate the damage using the VT2 breakpoint calculator, and that's the number it's returning to me. Is the calculator out of date? I haven't been able to test it ingame myself because the modded realm keeps crashing for me using creature spawner, so I can't see my damage numbers versus them ingame.

Where is that 55.25 comes from? Crossbow deals 75.25 on hookrat body without anything.

Heya, what do I need to be able to one shot packmasters with crossbow on WHC? I'm seeing it says I can one shot bodyshot them with armor/skaven on bow and infantry on charm, but isn't that 55.25*1.1 damage? Don't packmasters have 82.25 hp? I just wanna double check before I start trying to use crossbow more seriously.
