Description
Fort Lowell is a boreal river valley/coast map.
It was made with my own custom Northguard Boreal Theme, but works fine with others too.

You don't need any DLC or mods.

(It's a good map for 25 Tiles or 81 Tiles if you use them, though. Screenshots were taken with Sharper Textures, Softer Shadows, Tree LOD Fix, and Daylight Classic.)

Required assets are mostly just Pdelmo's low-tri trees and shrubs.

Area for building: 83%

Road: 4/4
Train: 2/4
Ship: 2/4
Plane: 3/4

FEATURES
  • Lots of flat build plain
  • Rivers, lakes, islands, beach
  • Ready-made harbour & quayside
  • Hydro dam powers start square
  • Fertile fields in several locations (each 40x40 units = a big city block)
  • Oil, ore & forest resources more naturally scattered
  • 1 x water tower, 1 x water treatment plant already running
  • Working toll booth (outside start square) gives a small cash boost
  • All custom intersections

The map has ~200k trees placed, leaving ~50k left to place yourself if you want. (Delete some or use Unlimited Trees Mod if you need more!)

As ever, tunnels look filled-in until you unlock that tile, but they work fine either way.

I wanted to avoid using DLC or road mods. Lane mathematics are tricky with vanilla, but they work here. I play-tested the map to 10k population, and had no traffic flow issues at all.

Recommended theme: Northguard Boreal Theme
Recommended LUT: Relight Average

Enjoy!

PS, 'Fort Lowell' was random. Seems there was a real one in 1800s Arizona - this isn't it. :)

Sorry for slow reply @pleaq, never saw this comment - but nope, it was purely from imagination. I didn't really use any visual references or specific inspirations while putting it together. Does it remind you of somewhere? :)

Is there any real world place that may be the reference to this map or what this map based on?

@sLurMz Thanks, glad you're enjoying it - tbh I think I made this map way back before I was really using some of the DLC around Industries and whatnot, so resources were always a bit of an afterthought for me...my typical build style means that by the time I've grown enough to where I could really use Industries properly, all my citizens want me to transition to offices rather than factories etc. Really must have more of a look into Industries and see how it works properly.

Loving the layout and terrain of this map. My only gripe is that the resource areas could be bigger. Makes it a PIA to design the district areas with such small plots.

@The Beard - what a lovely thing to say, sorry I've only just spotted it! Thanks so much. Been AGES since I made one but looking forward to starting a new map project soon. :)

@builderdoghdz Thanks, glad you liked it! And yes, while it's a very 'flat' map overall, there's actually hardly any land on it that's *totally* flat - I tried to make it feel a bit more natural, so there are a lot of very gentle slopes on the build plains.

I really enjoy this map! But, flat plains can be very deceiving. I place roads and buildings but there are actually very subtle hills that make flat cities ridiculously hard to make.

@DasKapitol It's at the very top of this page - above the photos of the map you'll see a link that says Cities: Skylines> Workshop > gomark's Workshop. (Or you can click my username and on my profile page there's a link to 'workshop items' over on the right-hand side somewhere.) :steamhappy:
