Lux in Tenebris

Description
Version 1.0.7 updated for EUIV 1.30.4

After years of development we are proud to introduce Lux in Tenebris, a comprehensive overhaul for Europa Universalis IV. Originally intended as an update of Beyond Typus 9.0 for the current version of the game, the project's ambition quickly escalated and far surpassed the original mod in scope, leaving its BT tag outdated.

This mod aims to strike a balance between overhauling almost the totality of the game's aspects whilst at the same time trying to stick close to vanilla gameplay and rules of engagement, ensuring that the mod is easy to pick up and play and that the AI can play it perfectly well.

  • With the goal of completely eliminating generic ideas being used in the game, we've added hundreds of new national ideas, most being brand new and others implemented from other mods listed in the credits.

  • Hundreds of new nations, formables and revolters, with a particular focus on post-colonial, regional and cultural formables, Japan and the Holy Roman Empire.

  • Thousands of new provinces as well as reworks of old ones, improved areas and regions, all to ensure better accuracy and detail for the dozens of further revamped cultures, terrain types, religions, revolter nations, colonial regions and trade goods.

  • A host of new religions across Europe and Asia, which includes many new events and mechanics associated with them.

  • Hundreds of new events and disasters of all types ranging from historical figures, to price change events, a more accurate columbian exchange, historical civil wars and rebellions and many more.

  • Rebalanced many of the base game modifiers, terrains, events, decisions and national ideas to make them work better with the mod.

  • Brand new, highly detailed Korean and Japanese tech groups accompanied by 3 extra tech groups implemented from Chieftains and The Suvarnabhumi.

  • Improved the custom nation designer with new colors, flags, emblems and religions.

Can I play without X DLC?
Yes and no. Officially, no DLC is required to run the mod, but a lot of the content uses DLC-exclusive features, as we try to expand and use as many features as we can to guarantee variety in gameplay. If you want a fully satisfactory experience, we recommend playing with all DLCs.

I like your content, can I use it for a mod I'm making?
Our philosophy towards modding is that it is something done by the community, for the community. As a result, feel free to use any content from our mod. The only thing we ask is the cordiality of crediting us, and that we can use your content in return.

Will this other mod(s) work with yours?
We do not currently have official support or compatibility patches for any other mod, so how well it works with other mods depends on the type of mod, and testing is at your discretion. Majority of vanity mods such as UI and flag modifications or tag colour changing mods should work. Others likely won't.

Any way I can get a taste of the new content before official releases?
Our development is done mainly through Github, where we have a version in development, usually unstable or unfinished. However it's open to public download at any moment in the Github link below.

do you have any hopium to spare? We all know EU5 is going to be dogwater since paradox consistently fumbles every game release. Could the mod be update to modern patch(es) or is that a lost cause

That's not possible sorry, I'm not the uploader and it'd require merging the main mod with the unstable version

It shouldn't be hard to create your own local mod for it

More precisely: would it be possible, despite the quasi-stable nature of the mod, to subscribe to it via the steam site? Unfortunately, this is the only option for me, and I am very keen to access it.

Dear Helena. Can you post it here?
Helena  [author] 28 Jan @ 11:04am
yeah sorry everyone. there's a """semi""" (focus on the amount of quotes) stable version on github, since i managed to fix all map and province issues in mid 2024. but general lack of interest in EU4 among all of us means no realistic proper update

i may pick it up again and make an EU5 version whenever that releases, since i expect to disagree with a lot of Paradox's design choices again, but i dont think any hope for EU4

Love it when a mod is like "after years in development" and then they release one update and then abandon it lmao
