*Neulance Armada* Aegis Destroyer Support Carrier (7-slot)

The Aegis Destroyer Support Carrier was not originally desiged as a warship but rather utility drone carrier able to mine and salvage utilizing its large drone bay. Seeing as the mining barges developed could outmine, and its rather fragile hull being bad for combat salvaging, It was decided to be repurposed into a support carrier. Its former cargo storage was replaced with a hardy shield and power generators. Not much of its hull was improved so once its shields have been broken, it will not fair too well as it has no armor.

The Aegis has a decent fighter storage and fighter production capacity for a ship of its size. When it was retrofitted additional turret hardpoints were added near the front of the vessel. While these turret hardpoints can be equipped with your standard damage dealing turrets, commanders have found that equipping the Aegis into a PDC/Flak support ship make it an effective escort ship, especially with the inclusion of very flexible fighter squadrons. The ships agility and speed is also pretty adequate allowing it to stay in formation quite well.
