Lebanese House (L5 3x4x3) by Lemire

From the "Middle-Eastern Fusion" collection, a synthetic mixture of traditional architectural styles originating in the Arabian Near-East (the "Levant"), and its wider region.

This particular series of houses from my collection is my take on the various typologies of the "Old Lebanese" stone houses, many of which are facing the threat of demolition today to give way for taller concrete towers, most notably in the capital Beirut, despite many efforts of preservation. Those houses which are culturally considered national treasures exist in different forms and typologies across all of parts of the country, namely the "Liwan" or vaulted portal house, the central hall house and the arcade gallery. The most recurring stylistic features of the Lebanese domestic vernacular are the facade triple-arch, the red-tiled roof (originating from Marseilles), the vaulted arcades and balconies.
