Tyrving Patrol and Utility Boat

Description
The Tyrving is a fast and armed patrol and utility boat in the Alsvinn-class based on the successful rescue vessel, Alsvinn. It has a regular top speed of 50 knots that can be increased to 70 knots if needed and has a bow mounted functional laser cannon. The boat is stuffed with lots of useful and realistic equipment. It has everything from searchlights, radios, echo sounding and mooring cables to a crane and a towing winch.

Door code: 8592

Start-up:

Sit down in the driver seat.

Turn on the screens with the flip switches below the central HUD.

Turn the keys on your left to start the engines.

Engage the clutches for the water jets with the buttons on the front of the center console.

Use the throttle lever to increase the engine throttle.

Use W/S to go forwards or backwards with the water jets.

You can also synchronize the water jets (normally controlled with W/S) with the engine throttle, by clicking the “Sync Throttle And Jets” button on the front of the center console. This will then sort of act like a sticky throttle.

A good tip in controlling the vessel would be to remember that your throttle will always control the speed and power of all movement. Either if it’s going forwards, backwards or turning. So if the steering is too sensitive at low speed, just lower the throttle.

The computers
The screens can display mostly whatever they want by pressing the “NEXT” button in the top left corner, but with a few exceptions.
- The HUD screen in the middle is the one where you can control the radar from. The other two screens can see the radar, but you’ll only have the touch screen buttons on the middle one.
- The screen in front of the navigator doesn’t have the starboard side camera, but instead sees the infrared camera and can control it with WASD.

The screens can be dimmed with the arrow buttons below the compass.

On the top panel you have screens showing engine info, alarms, echo sounding and time and temperature.
When an alarm goes off, the problem will be displayed on the alarms screen. Press the “mute” button on the screen to silence any alarms. The engine info screen can be switched between displaying engine RPM, fuel, range and engine temperature.

Plotting course and autopilots
There are two types of autopilots on board. One is a normal “hold current heading” autopilot. And the other is a destination autopilot where you type in a waypoint on the keypad in front of the driver. On the left arm rest of the driver is the buttons to engage/disengage the two autopilots. You can also press “2” or “4” to toggle them. A sound will tell you if the autopilots are toggled on or off.

On the bottom left side of the top panel you will see two indicators telling you if any of the autopilots are on. If you try to steer when the autopilots are on, you will here 3 beeps and the autopilots indicators will flash 3 times to remind you that one of the autopilots are on, and you have to disengage them to steer.

On the right armrest of the navigator seat is a keypad where you can type in a waypoint. This waypoint will then show up on all the map screens and display the heading towards it and the distance to it in nautical miles.

Equipment

The emergency fire suppression for the engine is a button below the center console.

The storage cabinets on the rear deck each holds a mooring line connected to a small winch and a mag all.

To start the handheld hose, there’s a switch on the roof panel called “Handheld Fire Hose”.

The crane can be controlled either from the rear deck or from the navigator seat with the buttons in front of the seat. The controls are defaulted to the rear deck controls, but by pressing the button “Transfer Crane Controls Here” by the navigator seat, all control over the crane will be transferred there.

The searchlights are controlled by the arrow buttons on the center console. The red panel is for the port side light, and the green for the starboard side light.

The towing winch can be controlled from the bridge center console or from the rear deck.

On the roof center console you will find controls for navigation lights, deck lights, fire pump, horn, bilge pumps, interior light, door and red bridge light.

The Tyrving is fitted with an anti-collision system. If it detects that it is moving fast towards an obstacle, it will set the water jet in full reverse go from top speed to full stop in less than 10 meters. After that it will turn on the engines emergency stop. On the top panel on the drive side you have the controls for the anti-collision system. You can disable it if needed, and if it activates, press the “Reset Anti-Collision” button to turn of the alarm. The anti-collision is also connected to a few other systems. Like if it detects that the player has fallen of while driving and there is no one on board, it will activate the emergency stop.

On the roof panel, you will see a button called “Launch Illumination Flare”. This will fire a bright white flare high up to help light up the area if dark.

Right next to the screen brightness buttons you will see a button that activates the exterior loudspeaker which you can talk through. This has a range of 300 meters.

Power and Fuel

To refuel the boat, just use the fluid connector on the port side. (Diesel)

If you have run out of battery and can’t start the engines, click the “Switch to Backup Battery” button blow the center console.

The electrical connector on the port side of the rear deck right over the fuel connector is directly connected to the battery.

In norse mythology there was a king named Svafrlami who was one of Odin’s grandsons. He trapped two dwarves called Dvalinn and Durinn and forced them to make a sword for him. The magic sword had a golden hilt and would never miss a hit. It would never rust and could cut through rock and steel as easy as cutting through clothes. And the sword was named “Tyrving”.

Might be a cool idea to build a ultra futuristic train, like a rolling mansion
