Australian Federation House 4

This house is based on ‘Tongkah’, 28 Lang Road, Centennial Park, Sydney.

Centennial Park is a tiny suburb on the western fringe of Centennial Park, in Sydney's Eastern suburbs, approx. 4km from the CBD. Due to strict building requirements imposed at the time of development (from 1904 to 1925), a fine collection of architect designed, substantial, quality homes were built on large blocks. Its now a heritage zone.

‘Tongkah’ is a Federation, Shingle & Stick style Arts & Crafts residence, constructed between 1911 and 1913. In 1924, the original architect designed a rear extension for the home, being a small Ballroom with domed ceiling. In the 1990’s, a small, faceted breakfast room was also added at the rear.

When researching the house, I was fortunate enough to find a detailed Development Application dated November 2017, prepared by a multi award winning architectural firm. It included restoration, renovation, relandscaping, a replacement pool, a new garage and living space, and a large, modern extension, replacing the small breakfast room. I don’t know how the DA/building has progressed, but I have included the proposed external changes to the main structure in Federation House 4.

Ideally you will have the Move it mod. The house takes up nearly all of its 2x4 block, so you will need Move It to set the house back from the street.
