Republic of the Aosta Valley

Description
As the CLN liberated Aosta valley from fascist occupation in 1945, the newly formed provisional government declared itself independent from italy, thus forming the independent Socialist Republic of the Aosta Valley.
This young republic, after decades of autonomist agitation, has finally found its independence. But with such a small population and a narrow territory between France and Italy, will the autonomist party be able guarantee our nation's survival and prosperity?

The Aosta Valley is a small region of Italy located in the hearth of the Alps. The creator of this map (Sort of, not really) proudly lives there, and as such I found it interesting to attempt to re-create as closely as possible the geography of the region. I used real elevation data and attempted to place villages and infrastructure to resemble the actual area. This is still very much in alpha and it's my first content, so there shall surely be problems.

There is little plain ground and while there is coal and steel, it will be hard to extract them efficiently. In our timeline Aosta was indeed able to become a steel town, although with generous help from the central government. Will it be possible to do it on its own?

A substantial rework has been made for the lastest version of the game, with a complete change of the elevation map and other improvements.

Hu... I did it!!! I got a train up through the valley to Cogne!!!

A really interesting and trying Map! Unrecommended as a complete play, of course, unless completely masochistic...

Bad map. So many bug's.
Очень много багов. Загружается через раз. Несовместимости с некоторыми СТАНДАРТНЫМИ зданиями. :steamfacepalm::steamfacepalm::steamsad:

I remember having seen a rusty cableway while hiking near Cogne, and I was told it was used to move coal, but yeah I guess that it was probably between a mine and another.
Sadly I actually do not know the valley that well.

Anyhow I began manually smoothing over the original heightmap, now it is possible to reach Cogne by car. The map is still very much harsh pretty much everywhere, and the only way to improve it is to smooth it manually, which I shall do in the next weeks. If I have time. Probably.

As far as I know coal was moved through the narrow gauge railway Cogne-Acque Fredde
