Thoky's Malus Overhaul

Description

What the Mod aims for:
This mod reworks the Possession Mechanic of Malus Darkblade. It gives you more of a choice, because i thought that the Vanilla Mechanic is a bit boring and punishes you to hard for using Tz'arkan.

What it does:
Giving Malus Control with the Elixir enables him a much better Economy and Puplic Order because he can focus on ruling his territory with a Clear mind.
If his Possession of Tz'arkan rises, he gets the Ability to not only transform into him without decaying HP, but also to get full Access of the demon when the Possession rises to its highest level, giving him Regeneration, Perfect Vigour and a Cooldown Bonus on his Abilitys Bloodstorm and Reaper of Souls, but leads to upkeep and replenishment debuffs because fighting with a dude that doesn't care about you simply isn't enjoyable.

FAQ:

Is it Compatible with Mod XYZ?
The Mod should work with everything that isn't a major Overhaul mod. That being said it can conflict with mods that try to modify the core data table of the "effect_bundles_to_effects_junctions_tables", but i can't fix it because it is required to modify the data core to remove the disable tz'arkan part.

Is it Safegame Compatible?
Yes! It Should be fully Safgame Compatible.

This mod breaks the new beastmen. At the very least Taurox.

@Kurisu jesus christ dude . stfu . if you don't like the mod don't download it and if you know how to mod then make your own mod .

@Kurisu let me repeat it again, i already told everyone in the comments 100 times that i won't do it without overwriting the data_ table. i even have it in the mod descrition.
if i do stuff, i do it the in a professional way and i don't want the entire ui to be 0 value buff lists.
The changes to the data_ table are no issue at all if you update the mod each major update. its pretty easy to do too, if you got the modding tools installed, since you basicly just combine 2 data tables.
The Response is toxic because i have to repeat myself for over a year now and i don't even mod this stuff anymore.
People even add me on Steam to try to contact me and get me to fix the mod and this shit is getting out of hand for a simple 1 day fun project to try to help some people out that didn't like malus on release.

Also you can look back through almost every bug report comment and it will show pretty clearly that this editing of data_ without accounting for every variable is the issue with this mod. The only mods that rewrite data_ are full overhauls like SFO. Even Radious doesn't rewrite data_...

Doesn't really matter if you fix it or not, its not like we get paid to mod and I have already taken what I wanted from the files, but that was quite a toxic response :/

lol dude I literally mod this game too. I understand that you can't just change a value in a .lua file without overwriting the base game version but these are .pack files. You can literally just set the value to 0 with no side effects. Yeah the UI still shows the effect with the value being 0, but that is 100x better than making your mod incompatible with literally everything else.

@Kurisu
if you ever modded or programmed yourself, you would know that if you change a value to 0 it's a completly different outcome as if you would delete it.
For example in this mod if i change the value to 0 you would still have every attribute displayed in the buff and Sanity Info, just with the value 0.

The fact that alone, that you recommended this as a fix, shows me that you have no freaking idea how Programming or even simple stuff like modding works and just try to give your youtube knowledge to people that work in this area for years. But thats the Internet Today I guess.

I already said in earlier comments that it would be easy to fix for me, but i don't have the time since i work on a lot of Programming tasks and don't even play PC anymore. The only reason this mod is still online is because people know how to fix it themself.

Sorry to everyone that reads this, but i have to deal with people like this during my worktime all the time and thats just annoying.

In order to effectively "remove" things from data_ without making your mod incompatible with everything (both mods and official updates) you just need to set their value to 0 in your mod and make sure your file has a different name
DudeChris33 19 Apr, 2021 @ 3:51pm
No @The Nega Druid is right. This mod is completely incompatible with everything. You need to rename the table and remove the extra stuff.
