MK2 Submarine Aircraft Carrier

Description
Get the new MK3 here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2130128560

This is an advanced submarine aircraft carrier, it supersedes the MK1 design.

New flight deck with ski ramp allows for launch and recovery of fixed wing aircraft.

Internal hangar with aircraft elevator, stores 2x aircraft.

New retractable deck crane.

CRANE WAS REMOVED 23/04/20.

TO TAKE OFF:

The plane spawns ready to go, just jump in the cockpit.

Kick the electronic elevator connectors into their storage compartments first

Fuel pumps > throttle > ignition > clutch

W/S keys boost / cut the throttle.

When ready to takeoff, toggle the connector and give some throttle increase (W key) but not too much)

Hold back stick (down arrow key) as you hit the ramp, the plane will takeoff.

if taking off from land, raise the tail hook

TO LAND:

This is an extremely difficult feat to accomplish (the deck is just 53m in length).

toggle the tail mag connector again

set throttle to 70% or something

stall / smash aircraft into the deck, hope the magnets catch the deck.

THE SUBMARINE:

To dive; Raise the snorkel, Press Dive, then when the deck is awash activate the depth hold system (eg -5 metres).

To surface, set depth hold to 0m and deactivate dive button, press the surface button (ballasts take a while to fill).

Cruise just under the surface with diesel power and snorkel. Use the electric motor to reach deeper depths, but save some battery to get back to the surface.

Do not run out of battery while submerged, the hangar doors will fail and flood the vessel.

Always keep the hangar elevator in the UP position when not in use.

Fold helicopter rotors to use the elevator.

NOTES:

I recommend you develop your own aircraft for this vessel, I'm not great at making fixed wing planes and don't really want to work on the plane much more. Use the plane as a reference, note the landing gear design needed to hit the ramp.

Ideally this carrier would suit a STOVL aircraft.

Can you dive with the plane on deck, the plane can't fit underneath.

Sure no problem, for now I've just stuffed a temporary one down in the hangar for you I hope it doesn't get in the way

Love this ship. I've been modifying my favorite aircraft to work with this ship. Needs to have a dedicated generator to keep the aircrafts batteries topped off.

Thank you I've just fixed this

The piping for the Jet Fuel pump is incorrect. The elbow in the engine compartment misses the enclosed pip angle in the center of the deck.

the winch hoses are a bit too short to tow the plane in the hangar, but with the help of stormworks physics you can just push the plane to the front and the winches will hook up. awesome build :)

also whenever i try to get the crane up it collides with the plane and the plane mostly falls off
