Thermal Lance Superlaser by cKerensky

Description
The Thermal Lance is a superlaser-style weapon designed for ship to ship combat.
The Lance magnetically heats and propels a hyper-hot slag of Iron and Nickel to relativistic speeds, with the impact ravaging the target.

The Thermal Lance Beam requires precise focusing requirements, and the slag itself rapidly slows down outside of magnetic containment, resulting in lower damage over long ranges, but much higher damage at close to point blank.

The Thermal Lance has a maximum range of 8 kilometers, but there is a linear dropoff for max damage from the point the laser is generated. Damage, and Explosion Radius are reduced accordingly.

The Thermal Lance has LOD models, and construction textures, and is paintable.


Uses Meridus_IX / Lucas's excellent energy weapon script (with modifications to support damage falloff), and was balance-tested against the Atlas Superlaser. This weapon does not produce its own ammo, but rather, the ammo is crafted as a Thermal cell.

It doesn't look like it. It just seems to not be able to fire. This was tested in a creative world, with the thermal lance cells loaded into the weapon. There weren't any sounds or particle effects produced, either.

I'll probably port it over to Weaponcore.
The library it's using is not being updated anymore. Plus it could probably use a fresh model.

@Doc, is it giving you an error of some sort?

I used it and it has the same issue as the atlas superlaser (it does not fire no matter how much I try)

Probably broken. Meridus has put out a fix for the energy weapon pack, but this laser has some custom changes to that. If it's got issues, just mention it and I'll fix it up here
