Description
[Vanilla|"Survival Ready"|Subgrids]

A simple and ridiculously overpowered "thruster" that works everywhere and for free. The most interesting thing about it is that it delivers a fixed acceleration independent from your ships mass, i.e. it gets more powerful the heavier your ship is. Also it does not apply a torque like grav drives do. The drive can produce thrust in two directions; the one it's pointing at and the opposite direction. So for thrust in all 6 directions you would need at least 3 of these, one in each axis.

The MPD-1 Merge Pulse Drive is a type of clang drive utilizing a very weird exploit with merge blocks. When two merge blocks, one on the main grid, one on a subgrid, are linked (they glow yellow) and you then push them apart laterally, they will stay linked and an acceleration is applied to your ship, depending on how fast they are pushed apart. The subgrid merge block is pushed out pretty fast by changing the offset of two rotors that are stacked on top of each other. The whole subgrid is mounted with a connector, which eliminates a sideways acceleration, that is present when the subgrid is mounted on rotors. The connectors are permalocked by the script btw, which makes it impossible to unlock them while the script is running. Additionally the the connectors, the subgrid part is also locked with a rotor for increased stability and safety.

Want to build it in survival?
Take a look at the third video.

Some stats:
-Blocks: 42
-PCU: 835
-Mass: 24.9 t
-Acceleration: ~33 m/s² or 3.3 g

How to use:
-Place as many as you like on your ship (in all directions you desire)
-Place a prog block and install the Clang Drive Manager Script
-That's it, your drives now work just like thrusters (wasd for power, 'z' for inertia dampening)

Tips:
-Works like a charm in combination with the MID-6-2 Merge Inertial Dampener
-You can remove the casing, but be careful
-There's also a manual mode in script, letting you toggle the drive from the toolbar instead of wasd

theoretically yes, but small grid merge blocks are super weak, so it's pretty pointless

does this work on a small grid?

thanks

You can change the speedlimit in the script. Merge blocks don't work anymore above a certain speed though.

quick question is there a way to increase its max speed limit for use with a speed mod?

probably an update in the past then. I've updated the script around 30 times by now, some of the really old versions might not work anymore.

Weirdly enough, just my old designs using don't work anymore, tested on a completely new one and it works. Idk, maybe the update broke it for old ones? Or maybe Clang has abandoned me or something

nope, still works just fine

Doesn't seem to work anymore unfortunately
