Australian Federation House 1

Description
Only one prop is required for this asset. The Chimney prop pack by Geze.

Australian Federation took place in 1901, but Federation Architecture defines a period roughly from the late 1890's to the 1918. The style encompasses or draws on Edwardian, Arts and Crafts, Queen Anne Revival, Shingle Style, Bungalow and Art Nouveau elements.

The homes are typically:
- Freestanding or semi detatched;
- Single story with steeply pitched roofs (many of which now have converted attics with dormer windows);
- Ceilings are high and ornate;
- Roofs are terracotta or slate tiles;
- Foundations are often sandstone;
- External walls are normally dark brick;
- Leadlight windows are featured;
- along with complex skilled joinery.

This particular house is based on a home in Mosman NSW. My intention is to make a small set of Federation Houses, along with a garage prop.

Ive used 2K textures, so apologies in advance for the size of the file.

I would say most people's game. But it's going to change depending on the LUT etc. They look Bright in my game and your screenshots. Here is a link to my in game screenshots in 4k https://imgur.com/a/3vbvdxi .
They look bright and Saturated compared to most other good assets from the workshop.

someone did send me a screenshot of one of the federation houses, and the colours looked absolutely terrible in their game!! they were new, so I figured they were using vanilla settings.

okay pdelmo, but I dont think you answered my question. Is the saturation bad in my screenshots, or how it appears in game for you? Are my settings wrong to judge colour saturation?

And just another example I realise King Leno has been doing this for a long time but his 1.6mb houses with 512x512 textures look to be a similar texel density to these with 2k texture and 8.7mb file with no LOD. Sorry I seem like I am being an ahole I just think you have talent and no one improves without honest feedback. :) and thanks for the replay. ps have to post 3 times due to limit on comments

In saying that this is just my personal feedback, Im just a novice amature asset creator that does not even make buildings. I just think if you played with the textures a bit. turned down the brightness and saturation added some grunge to the texture and baked out your own LOD it would really improve these assets and you would get the subs its deserves.

Hello Stevieb. With the Saturation and brightness just comparing to other popular assets and buildings on the workshop eg: KingLeno, Crazyglueit etc. I guess it depends on what you were going for. If you wanted them to fit more with the vanilla colouring and brightness, or if you wanted to match buildings from the workshop etc. Ronyx69 has some good colour charts on the workshop more aimed at a more realistic colour and brightness values.
And by AO I mean Ambient Occlusion the mod. that adds them dark shadows, you can see it on the stairs and windows of your preview Image. Im not saying don't use it. just maybe turn it down when you are taking close screenshots for the workshop to help better show off your asset.

HI pdelmo
Just wondering, when you say the colours are too saturated, do you mean in the screenshots (which is how I see the assets in game), or in your own game with your own settings?

Also, Im not sure what you mean by "AO"

Being Australian Obviously I love these houses. And Appreciate your time and work. Just some feedback. They are a bit bright and maybe tad too saturated. The Textures look reasonable but not amazing for 2k and 8mb per house. The models look really good. But you should of Spend the time to make your own LOD. I regret not making LODs for my older prop assets. And maybe turn down the AO in your screenshots to really show these beautiful homes off. All together tho good work and thanks for sharing :)
