HISTORY

The Virginia Class Patrol Destroyer is born out of the Fleet Modernization Program. The Norfolk Patrol Cruiser has traditionally played the long range search and destroy role in the FCR fleet. Despite plans to keep the Norfolk in service for decades to come, their space frame will eventually need to be cycled out of the fleet.

The Virginia Class was designed to fill the shoes of the Norfolk albeit in a smaller frame and embracing technologies such as nanites and long range missiles. Capable of relatively long range jumps, carrying two dropships, and can fly in any environment allows the FCR Navy to effectively patrol the far flung areas of the Republic.
