Timelapse 2000

Description
This mod is no longer being updated
As of May 2022, I will no longer be updating my Rimworld mods until further notice, although if a new version of Rimworld is released, I may make an effort to port my mods. The reasons for this are simple: I no longer have the time to maintain these mods, and my enjoyment from creating them has diminished over time. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed my mods and left good feedback.
Please feel free to fork, re-upload or post patches for my mods. I ask the following if you do:
  1. Any fork, 'continuation' or re-upload must be open source.
  2. The fork or continuation must link back to the original (steam page or github page). I must be listed as the original author.
Thank you for your understanding!

[IMPORTANT] Only works on 64-bit Windows! Don't bother downloading this on Mac/Linux, it won't work!

About
This mod creates timelapse videos from the images generated by the Progress Renderer mod (created by Lanilor) with as little effort as possible.
You can then use the video in editing software to add music and text if you want, or just send the video to friends or upload for everyone to see.

Default save location: My Documents/Rimworld Renders

Features
  • Any amount of images, any resolution.
  • Configure frames per second, resolution, video format, bitrate etc.
  • Simply paste location of images, press start, done!
  • Can still play RimWorld while video is rendering.
  • Will not lag computer while rendering (unless potato PC).
  • Has progress bar, and calculates estimated time remaining.

How to use:
  1. On the main menu, or the pause menu, press the Rimworld Renderer button. (It's a small label, not a big brown button)
  2. Paste the path (location) of the folder that contains the images.
  3. Change any settings, such as frames per second.
  4. Press Start.
  5. Profit.

Other
See the Github page[github.com] for more info on settings and how this works behind the scenes.
Please comment with any suggestions or improvements, or any problems that you encounter.

@Epicgury thanks for your approval. I like the idea of background rendering, but it sounds like something hard to achieve. For instance; what happens when RimWorld is closed prematurely? I'd like to discuss this with you, if we can figure it out we, or I, can maybe one day implement it

Thanks for the update. I had plans to rewrite this at some point, mainly to add cross platform support as well as the ability to render a video in the background as new images were taken, rather than all at once at the end (for disk space reasons). I just never got round to it. I'll leave the future of this mod in your capable hands.

@epicguru, as announced I will shortly be releasing an updated version of this mod. I have rebranded it Timelapse 2023. I figure you'll be glad to see it being continued, given the enthusiasm of people asking for an update in the comments below. However, if you disagree with this, or want to talk about it in general, you know where to find me.

Of course the progress renderer still works and had been updated to make it easier to make renders with proper sizing for posting on Rimworld gallery [rimworld.gallery]

I'll look into this mod soon to see if I can repair it
