G-Saber

This addon requires you to have the VRMod module installed in order to work.
You can find it on the vrmod addon page.
Note that only the module is required, you don't necessarily have to subscribe to the vrmod addon.

This is a recreation of the VR game Beat Saber for Garry's Mod.
This is mostly intended to demonstrate the possibility of creating VR games from scratch using GMod as an engine, so I am releasing it in a very unfinished state. Expect there to be bugs and missing features / functionality.

It is not designed with addon compatibility in mind, so I would highly recommend disabling all other addons before playing it. You can easily disable/enable all other workshop addons through gmod's main menu -> addons.

To start the game, change the gamemode to G-Saber (from here[cdn.discordapp.com]) and load the vr_gsaber map.

This addon does not come with any songs. After starting it for the first time, the songs folder will be created at garrysmod/data/gsaber/songs, where you can place your custom songs. Each song should be a folder with files in it. The song format is the same as unmodded Beat Saber's custom songs.
A correctly set-up song folder should look something like this[cdn.discordapp.com]

The controller offsets are adjusted for the Valve Index controllers by default. The offsets can be edited with a console command, for example "gsaber_controlleroffset 0 0 0 0 0 0", where the numbers are "X Y Z Pitch Yaw Roll". You need to restart the game for it to take effect.

List of known issues:

• song menu can completely break sometimes
  
• scrolling song list can be buggy sometimes
  
• note animation and timing bugs in some songs
  
• continue button in pause menu does nothing (you can press the menu button again to unpause)
  
• no safety checks against invalid songs or incorrectly placed files, you'll get a lua error and the game won't start
  
• hitting obstacles doesn't do anything
  
• hit detection is too strict which can make it feel like it misses sometimes
  
• side panels in main menu may fail to appear
  
• audio might not work unless you start steamvr before gmod
  
• notes will appear black if HDR is disabled in video settings

This addon does not contain any assets from the original game Beat Saber. The original game was not reverse engineered either.
Game mechanics and assets have been recreated by hand based on visual in-game observations of the original game.
