Vector Tri-Miner

Description
BIG NOTE: Something has been broken in an update somewhere and the nacelles are now pretty fragile and get destroyed pretty easily. In addition, the vector thrust 2 script on board the ship is out of date. Simply paste in the new one and it should work fine. I lost the original blueprint file so I cant update it.

Note: There is a version without the DLC blocks that can be found here if you are interested.

Greetings Engineers,

I bring you the Vector Tri-miner. This is a small cheap miner that I use in just about all of my survival play throughs. It is extremely agile and is packed to the gills with cool tech. It utilizes the vector thrust 2 script. This allows the craft to fly in nearly any orientation using only 3 large atmospheric engines. This makes it very useful for tight quarters underground mining on planets.

Automatic LCDs 2 script by MMaster:
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822950976&searchtext=lcd

Instructions IMPORTANT:

- page 1 of the hotbar includes the following important items.

2: Toggle Thrusters. Keeps the script running but turns off and on the thrusters

3: Toggle Script Standby. Toggles the script in and out of standby mode. Will default to standby upon loading game or spawning in the ship (refer to the center LCD in the cockpit for information on the vector script status.)

5 and 6: Increase/decrease Target acceleration. Increases the acceleration of the thrusters. default is 1G. Recommended you drop it down to about .5g when in tight quarters for smoother movements.

9: retract/extend landing gear

Other features include:

- Automatic LCD script that keeps track of vital ship statistics such as available battery power and remaining cargo capacity so you know when you need to return to base to drop off your haul.

- Connector at the bottom for easy unloading

- retractable landing gear in case you need to land somewhere that has no connector.

- Built in ejector system to eject unwanted materials. Default settings causes stone and ice to be ejected out the back of the ship. (can be toggled by turning the sorting block on and off.)

Pros:

- Can get into pretty much any small space to get those hard to reach ore deposits

- Can fly entirely upside down or facing straight down or up(I would avoid rolling over on your side though as the side to side is only a single large atmospheric engine.

- Very cheap to build. It is battery operated and only uses 3 engines so this is a fantastic early game option with a huge cost efficiency.

Cons:

- By default the vector thrust script loads into the game in standby mode. (this can be changed in the scripts fields but comes with some issues if you have more than one vector thrust craft connected to the same grid.) TLDR: if you load your save and you are in flight the script will be off and you will plummet to the ground unless you are quick on the button.

- Because of the way the vectored engines work you have to be careful you don't hit them on the walls of whatever hole your digging. If this happens they will likely break due to them quickly moving around.

- It only holds a medium cargo container worth of ore plus the connector and drills. This means that you will need to return to base fairly frequently.

I hope you all get some use out of this. It has been the mainstay of my planet based play throughs for quite some time.

Did they ever fix the issue?

What amazing timing! Thanks for the clarification Meat Wagon. I hope there will be a way to fix this sudden fragility, as I was wowed by your demo video.

@vernes before you go through all that though please read the note at the beginning of the description.

@vernes I noticed that. All you have to do is download the vector thrust 2 script and copy the updated version into the programmable block. Unfortunately my hard drive crashed a few months ago and I lost the original BP. Because of this I am unable to update it myself.

Certain entities in the script no longer exist or are renamed.

I would also not recommend this ship in its current state. I added a note to the very beginning of the description.

@ReverendPeaches I just pasted it into a brand new save and noticed that the vector thrust script is broken and needs to be updated. After doing that I tried to use it a bit and yeah they certainly broke something in one of the last few updates. Those Nacelles pop instantly whenever they touch anything. Too bad.... it used to be pretty durable. I literally did all of my mining with one of them in my last survival play through late last year and you could grind it on the sides of the hole all day... Sorry about that.... nothing I can really do though

Can't recommend this ship. I really wanted to use it; but I spent 4 hours last night pasting it and having it blow up. Landing? Kaboom. Take off? Kaboom. Turning? Kaboom. I made it to an iron deposit in one of the last iterations, and 2 nacelles went kaboom as I began drilling. This has been a massive addition to my frustration with ship building in this game.
