Lore:

The Mako is the result of modernization within the PHI (Pravda Heavy Industries) assortment and navy.
Though research of large capital ships was progressing smoothly, the costs of said research was rising to ridiculous heights. Not only that, but the production costs of those vessels would be so high that they wouldn't be a viable option for PHI and its customers in the long run, especially counters to such ships being developed as well.
As such, PHI opted for a smaller and cheaper design, but still versatile enough to be used for different purposes.

Enter the Mako FAC (Fast Attack Craft).

As the name implies, the standard Mako specialises in speed, making her great at hit and run attacks on slow-moving or stationary targets. However, the Mako isn't one ship type, but an entire series. There are multiple variations of the vessel with each having its own role, with the Type-C being the latest hull model used as a basis for said variations.

Improvements of the Type-C compared to the Type-B are the replacement of the ventral Rocket launcher with a quad gatling array with camera, the replacement of the dorsal large grid antenna with a small grid one, and the addition of a survival kit and cryo chamber hidden in the fuselage.

The Type-C Standard is equipped with four gatling guns, triple rocket launchers and two missile turrets, and can make short work of opposing defences while her armoured bow prevents lighter weapons from taking her down easily. A combination of ion and hydrogen allow her to be suprisingly quick for a ship of her size, while keeping operational time at acceptable levels. A few seats on her deck allow her to carry troops into battle, and her jump drive allows her to get in and out of the battlefield with ease, as her max jump distance sits at 2000 km.

One oddity that the Mako has embraced is the addition of components not generally found on ships of her class. Mako's from the Type-B got reduced cargo space in exchange for a jump drive, and the Type-C doubles up on this by making the class completely self sufficient with the addition of the cryo chamber and survival kit.
