Description

Armor modules increase Hull points but decreases speed

Armor modules now increase Hull points, in addition to just amor. The Hull point increase is the same as the increase to armor.

Speed & evasion are also now negatively affected by armor.

Small armor: -0.05% Speed, No evasion penalty
Medium armor: -0.1% Speed, -5% evasion penalty
Large armor: -0.15% Speed, -10% evasion penalty

This results in a general increase in the durability of ships in the game.

It also means larger, more heavily armored ships take longer to reach engagements and enables the possibility for out maneuvering.

This mod is part of the Tronworks Stellaris Mods Collection.

Tested with various armor mods & appears to be compatible. mod-added armor modules will not be affected by this mod.

I'm keen to understand if any changes could improve this minor mod. If you have any suggested changes or other feedback then I'll attempt to factor them in to future changes or new mods.

How about plating over weapon hardpoints to get only armour and lower debuffs? with things like psyonik shield you often run into energy-problems and just taking the few shield you can afford and filling the rest wilth armour/crystal plating sound like an easy way to turn your fleet basically immobile. It might also be interesting to add some sort "light-weight-strukture" module that counteracts the debuffs and reduces hullpoints. I'm thinking about something along the lines of the T1 component counteracting the health buff and lower debuffs for higher tiers.

Hii ExaBit - I'll take a look this weekend and get your suggested change added.

Originally I had left crystal plating alone in order to provide an armor option which doesn't reduce evasion, but what you have said makes sense.

would it be possible to add a change to how crystal plating works with this too? it just seems like this would make that completely obsolete, and I like using 2-4 on ships that have enough slots to support it.
