about
it is a preset for various graphical tweaks for "Spyro: Reignited Trilogy", that mostly improves or enhance the visuals

those tweaks (apart from fog, blur and anti-aliasing) are very subtle - and you need to play side-by-side to notice most chances, screenshots don't illustrate some of those tweaks well (like the reflections on metal surface), so you have to play on your own and see them in action

one more time: do not expect mindblowing differences. those are just the little tweaks

how to

(1) open the file
C:\Users\<<YourUserName>>\AppData\Local\Falcon\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini
or
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Falcon\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini

(2) find the block
[SystemSettings]

(3) replace its content with the following:
[SystemSettings] MotionBlur=1 Vignette=1 GraphicsPresetDefault=1 Bloom=3 DepthOfField=1 AntiAliasing=1 SSR=3 AmbientOcclusion=3 TextureQuality=3 FoliageQuality=3 ViewDistanceQuality=3 ShadowQuality=3 GraphicsPreset=4 r.AmbientOcclusionLevels=3 r.AmbientOcclusionRadiusScale=1.700000 ; the amount of VRAM to dedicate on texture streaming system. should be half of your GPUs VRAM r.Streaming.PoolSize=1024 ; less stutters more VRAM usage r.UseShaderCaching=1 r.UseShaderPredraw=1 ; adds more details to objects r.MipMapLODBias=-3 r.LandscapeLODBias=-3 ; removes fog r.Fog=0 ; improves lighting and shadows r.LensFlareQuality=3 r.bAllowLightShafts=True r.AllowImageReflections=True r.AllowImageReflectionShadowing=True r.bEnableForegroundShadowsOnWorld=True r.bEnableForegroundSelfShadowing=True r.bAllowWholeSceneDominantShadows=True ; increases draw distance r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-2 r.MinScreenRadiusForLights=0.015 r.MinScreenRadiusForSmallLights=0.005 ; improves grass/foliage density foliage.DensityScale=7 grass.DensityScale=7 foliage.LODDistanceScale=5 foliage.MinInstancesPerOcclusionQuery=1024 foliage.MinVertsToSplitNode=16384 ; AA-settings r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=2 r.PostProcessAAQuality=6 r.TemporalAASamples=8 r.TemporalAAPauseCorrect=1 r.TemporalAACurrentFrameWeight=0.04 r.TemporalAAFilterSize=0.6 ; AT-settings r.MaxAnisotropy=16 ; adds sharpen filter. a value between 0.5-1.0 is recommended r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0.5 r.Tonemapper.Quality=5 ; better motion blur (helps disguise the TAA's blurring) r.MotionBlurQuality=0 r.MotionBlur.Amount=0.3 r.MotionBlur.Max=1 r.MotionBlur.Scale=1 r.MotionBlurSeparable=1 ; improves depth of field r.DepthOfFieldQuality=4 r.DepthOfField.MaxSize=100 r.DepthOfFieldNearBlurSizeThreshold=0.005 ; extra SSR & SSS effects r.SSR.Quality=3 r.SSS.Filter=1 r.SSS.SampleSet=2 r.SSS.HalfRes=0 r.SSS.Scale=1
(4) open options and set graphical settings (texture, shadows, anti-aliasing...) to your own needs

some comments:
  • feel free to remove some unnecessary block if you want, for example if you like default depth of field, then delete that part
    ; improves depth of field r.DepthOfFieldQuality=4 r.DepthOfField.MaxSize=100 r.DepthOfFieldNearBlurSizeThreshold=0.005
  • "r.Streaming.PoolSize" should be set according to you videocard's RAM (VRAM). set it to half of VRAM for better effectiveness
  • "r.UseShaderCaching=1", "r.UseShaderPredraw=1" help to combat some stutters but increase VRAM usage (not-significantly). if you have at least 2GB of VRAM, then enable them with no worries
  • "r.Fog" removes fog from the game. some players consider that it ruins game's whimsical atmosphere, which is a fair point, so delete it depending on your preference
  • default antialiasing makes game too blurry (at least for my eyes), which you may mitigate with "r.Tonemapper.Sharpen" option. increase its value to make picture more sharp. setting too higher value may lead to grainy picture, something that most players don't like. default value is set to "0.5". setting it to "1.0" will make picture as sharp as possible, while "0.0" will make it very blurry. set it according to your need
  • "better motion blur"-block makes sense ONLY if you use motion blur in the game and use some antialiasing. if you don't use any of two, then delete that block
  • SSR & SSS are various reflection-effects

if you set "r.Tonemapper.Sharpen" to a high value (make image more sharper), then visuals will be like that:

PS, I made those screenshots and didn't realize that I forgot to disable a custom skin for Spyro and couldn't be bothered to make the new screenshots. sorry for that ^_^"

if you want to thank me...
...then check my guide about fixing various game issues: launching, crashing, optimization, stuttering, gamepads, etc. the guide is huge, but the topic is broad to begin with

Hello, could you share what the older tweaks were please before you updated them in July. For some reason these new tweaks are heavier on my system while not being as noticeable.

Definitely much more fine detail (to the point of almost being grainy) and I didn't notice any performance decrease. I don't think it adds anything to the game though; some falloff is natural and adds depth. Global sharpening just makes things look flat, like they are all on the same plane. Foreground sharpness = good. Background sharpness = bad if applied at the same level. Sharpening at this level shouldn't be applied globally. Of course that's a matter of taste but this one exceeded mine.

That said, I wouldn't have batted an eye had the game shipped like this. Mod does as it says, so definitely use it if that's your thing. I much prefer the default settings though, and I set a profile for each game through my GPU suite.

Yeah they do make the game more demanding, especially during ingame cutscenes such as freeing the Dragons in Spyro 1. I wouldn't recommend using this if you don't have GPU power to spare.

Hi, didi these commands are gonna increase my graphics card usage?
cause i already am at 100% cus im a Ryzen 3 3200G (8 GBs single channel) user :(

Ignore my previous comment, I found the line, just delete r.Fog=0 and the fog returns!
Soldier 96 2021. márc. 18., 16:00
Hello again friend, I have one issue I dislike with this and its the removal of distance fog, the majority of inaccessible areas around the levels are designed with the fog in mind and look really bad without it, Beastmakers Homeworld in Spyro 1 is a prime example of this. Which lines would I need to adjust to turn the fog back on, thanks!

Amazing tweaks, makes a real difference at 4K. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Hi, I used some of the settings found here, https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2140031809 , with yours.

Inside “GameUserSettings.ini”, I changed these lines to

sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000 sg.ViewDistanceQuality=3 sg.AntiAliasingQuality=3 sg.ShadowQuality=3 sg.PostProcessQuality=3 sg.TextureQuality=3 sg.EffectsQuality=3 sg.FoliageQuality=3

I think it made the game look better, but I’m not sure. Thanks for the guide.
