Eldar Armor [WOTC]

Description
Please let me know if you encounter any issues. I will be monitoring comments for at least a few weeks.

DESCRIPTION
This mod adds armor sets for the Eldar of the 40k universe. Customization options are included for guardians, various aspect shrines (Dire Avenger, Fire Dragon, Howling Banshee, Striking Scorpion, Swooping Hawk and Dark Reaper) and Warlocks with pieces for Autarchs, Farseers and Rangers as well.

Basically, with all the 40k mods that came out, I wanted Eldar in the mix but pretty much knew the only way to be sure of it happening was to do it myself.

There is a socket on the torso pieces to accommodate Ebontech Armory capes.

REQUIREMENTS
WOTC Community Highlander: Eldar heads will be bugged without this mod.

SW Alien Head Pack Extra: Base Heads (WOTC): any head will clip through Eldar helmets. Use invisible heads from this mod (or any other mod providing invisible heads, really) to avoid this.

Jet Packs by Iridar: required to take advantage of the Swooping Hawk jump packs.

USE
Eldar armors are new, equippable armor types, not just customization options for vanilla armors. In general terms, you will find Eldar armors to have less armor and smaller health bonuses than normal XCOM armor sets but with offsetting bonuses to defense, dodge and mobility. You won't get hit as often but it will hurt more when you do. Rune armors provide bonuses to psi and will.

Don't expect holding your ground to work as well as it might using standard XCOM armor. Hit and run and ambush tactics will serve you better.

There are Wraithguard and Wraithblade customization options for existing Spark armors.

There are also Eldar heads but don’t get too excited because I couldn’t be bothered to do the weight painting for facial animations.

TECH PROGRESSION
Armors are available from the start and higher tiers become available through the normal plated and powered armor schematics. This means that, on pre-existing saves, you won't be able to unlock armors for tiers that are already unlocked.

CREDITS
IronGroinPie/Blackbladder gave me a lot of advice along the way and helped rig the ranger coat. The Eldar heads are by Jibicoco.

DISCLAIMER

KNOWN ISSUES
The weight painting is far from perfect (especially the fingers) but at this point I’m not interested in spending any more time working on these models (especially the fingers).

Normal human heads clip through the collars of Eldar armors. Eldar heads will not. Any head will clip through the Eldar helmets. Use invisible heads to avoid this.

After doing the physics for the female Howling Banshee hair, I decided that I hate physics. So nothing else has them.

XCOM hairstyles basically don't fit the male Eldar head. The female Eldar head is better. Most long hair styles should be okay but the short ones will clip.

Thank you for putting space elves in my game which was severely lacking in them. I love elves <3

Could be something to do with CI. Couldn't say for sure as I don't use that mod myself.

As far as I can tell from the description, if you have the plated armor schematic unlocked and purchased you should have the Eldar armors as well. If not then it is probably a conflict.

Just checked and it’s the same with the dark eldar mod. Upgraded weapons work perfectly but can’t get access to upgraded armours. Not checked spark armour or weapons yet as not unlocked them.

The research is complete and the initial mesh, heavy aspect and rune armour are still options to equip but no option in engineering to purchase the upgraded versions. Would it possibly be because I am running the covert infiltration mod where you purchase individual items for soldiers? Eldar weaponry works fine with this mod and I can purchase the upgraded weapons fine individually.

Hmm. It's been a bit so I don't remember exactly how I set this one up.

Assuming you have built the plated armor schematic, check the armors available to equip. The eldar armors should be in there.

I don’t know if I’m missing something really obvious here but I’ve just completed plated armour but can’t see anywhere to upgrade the armour.

Sure thing. Just about all the enemies in A2I are probably full models. If you're in the XCOM2 modding discord you should be able to find me in there.

Thanks, out if interest can i link up with you in discord? I want to confirm some things around how the A2I mobs are coded if its by component or whole skins?

I have no problem with you using my stuff.

If you use content from Advent2Empire though, you'll need to ask DimDim (I think he goes by Zero on Steam now) if you want to his Space Marine/Sisters of Battle armors, which are originally from the Armours of the Imperium mod.

On a second question, how do you feel if i use your mod resources to release a LWOTC conversion where you play as Eldar against Imperium (with a smattering of Orcs, Chaos and Dark Eldar in the mix)
