SHINKANSEN Type 500-900 "WIN350"　500系900番台新幹線高速試験列車WIN350

WIN350 is one of 90's experimental high-speed Shinkansen. This train was used for only technical development, not in passenger service. Both front mask are different shaped: 901 has flat roof, but 906 has cockpit style (was adopted for series 500). Each cars have very low roof and few windows excluding car no.4. There are doors on only 3rd or 4th cars. Large pantograph covers for controlling noise from pantographs are also important characteristic. They could be replaced any other different shapes for test.
On August 8th 1992, WIN350 reached 350.4km/h between Shin-yamaguchi and Shin-shimonoseki. After retire in 1995, 901 is on display at the RTRI large-scale wind tunnel test facility in Maibara, and 906 is storaged in Hakata Shinkansen Depot.

JR西日本が時速350キロでの高速運転を目指して1992年に製造した試験車両で、様々な要因から営業運転では350キロに届かなかったものの、500系の開発に大きく貢献した車両です。
低い屋根に巨大なパンタカバー、窓がほとんどない車体は歴代の新幹線のなかでも特に異質な存在だと思います。ドアに至っては3,4号車にしかないという。パンタカバーは別の形状のものと取り替え可能なので、動画や画像によって屋根上の様子が違うかも…(このアセットでは新製時の形状になっています)
90年代にはこのWIN350の他にJR東日本の952/953形"STAR21"やJR東海の955形"300X"と、さらなる高速運転に向けて3社3様の高速試験車が次々に開発されて賑やかでしたね…ちなみに作者はSTAR21が宇宙船ぽくて好きです。

  CAUTION: When train runs in more than 100 km/h, body of train may flicker slightly and too hard to see display. So if you enjoy driver's view, set an upper speed limit of 100 km/h by using Improved Public Transport MOD.
  注意事項：運転台視点において電車の速度が時速100キロを超えると、車体がピカピカと小刻みに消えるというゲーム本体の仕様に起因する不具合があるので、運転台視点を楽しむ場合はImproved Public Transport MODなどで最高速度を100キロ以下に下げてください。
