Duelist Weapons

Description
Intro
This mod gives every player a ring that allows them to turn their weapon into a Duelist Weapon.

Requirements
A Duelist Weapon must be an one-handed weapon. To use the skill, you must be equipped with the weapon you wish to transform and have one free hand.

DISCLAIMER! THE TRANSFORMATION IS IRREVERSIBLE!

Results
A Duelist Weapon costs -1AP to attack, but it suffers a -25% damage bonus. Also, a Duelist weapon can only be wielded by itself, not allowing dual wield or shields.
While being a Duelist, you have access to the Duelist Stance skill, a skill that adds piercing damage on your attacks and weapon skills, causing your enemies to bleed.

Reasoning
The idea is to open up a different playstyle with less damage per attack, but more attacks per round, exploring benefits gained from buffs that boosts each attack, like Firebrand.

Future Plans
I still have a few things in mind for this mod:
  • Give the weapon a skill, called Duel (1 AP, 1 CD): Marks a target for dueling. The mark lasts until the target dies, the mark is switched to another target, or the target is marked by another duelist. During your turn, if you dealt damage to the marked target and ended your turn near the marked target, the target is taunted by you until your next turn. While this taunt is working, you're immune to taunt.

Compatibility
This mod should be compatible with any mod, except those that include 3 rune slots one-handed weapons. Keep in mind, mods that alter AP economy, like Epic Encounters, might have some different effects than planned by this mod. Other than that, this mod doesn't alter any stats from any weapon.

For the Malady screenshot I took, I used Majoras - Character Creation Plus and Rendal's NPC Armors and Weapons.

Special Thanks
Thanks to Laughing Leader for the help through discovering some issues with this specific project, and for Bluefire for the rune idea. Without those two, this project wouldn't be possible.

Forgot to update, turns out I forgot to install a thing divinity unleashed needed, which broke almost all my mods.

I'm doing a multiplayer, and I don't seem to have the ring.

I hardly think so, since 2h is very OP

So, with basic attack enhancers, do duelist weapons compete with 2h weapons in the late game?

Thanks for clearing that out, i hadn't been playing for while now so i forgot about the dmg reduction in dual-wield. The thing is, i like the idea in focusing on bs attack enhancers but i've already done so many playthroughs using sparkstriker and firebrand that i just wanted to do a LOTR ranger type of character, just an one handed sword(dagger disguised as a sword in this case) and a bow, focusing primarily on finesse and warfare. Either way, thanks for the Mod, with or without the dmg reduction in the skills, it will work.

The basic attack is actually the same damage than a dual-wield (since dual-wield has a innate 50% damage reduction on the off-hand weapon).
The only disadvantage is the weapon skills, like whirlwind and battle stomp. Those scale from the weapon damage and will deal less damage if using a Dueling Weapon, but if you invest into basic attack enhancers, you'll be dealing more damage than a dual-wielder

Hey dude, love the mod. Been looking for something like this for a long time now. I just wish it did 100% dmg, to be on pair with dual wielding without the skill you added. If you could do something like that my game would be so much better and i would be in your debt.

Using the ring you get when you activate the mod
Sever 16 Nov, 2019 @ 5:56pm
