Immersive Galaxy - Bugfix Redone

Description
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT the owner or creator of this mod. The original uploader is Dwaine. However, the mod wasn't updated since 22 December of 2018. I decided to save it from being forgotten.

I have changed only one thing: I deleted world-GFX folder as PDX changed the shaders. Now the mod consists only planets and ringworlds textures. I'm going to update this mod whenever new version of Stellaris is released. I also have plans to take care for other Immersive Galaxy mods in far future.

After reading this post on reddit, I dived into the game to check.
The seams are there, and really showing, so here is a mod to correct this.

This mod correct 4 faulty textures done by PDX:
- savannah_01_diffuse.dds
- savannah_02_diffuse.dds
- savannah_02_specular.dds
- barren_04_normal.dds (misaligned)
It also correct these bugs :
- weird poles of mars
- rings textures beahaving weirdly, restoring animated clouds and replacing the continental texture by the gaia one.
- cubemap_filtered_ldr textures that are reflected in the oceans and the edge of the black holes (mainly), the texture is completely corrupted, I replaced by a very dark star background.

The mod is completely save game compatible, you can activate/deactivate the mod without any impact.

This mod, should NOT conflict with ANY other mod.

Not compatible with Real Space - System Scale

It's not compatible with Aesthetic Cinematic Graphics.

@Ajey has created ACG compatible version of this mod. You can download the ACG compatible version here. It's not a patch. If you use Aesthetic Cinematic Graphics, use the Ajey's version of the Immersive Galaxy - Bugfix. If you NOT use Aesthetic Cinematic Graphics, use this version.

Thanks, @Ajey !

Ironman compatible
Achievment compatible.

If you notice another faulty texture, leave a message and I'll try my best to correct it.

  • 1.2.1:
    - Added gaia texture to FE ringworlds
  • 1.2:
    - Correction of corrupted cubemap texture resulting in disgusting lighting on oceans on the night side of planets
  • 1.1:
    - Correction of Mars poles
    - Correction of faulty ringworlds textures

this mod overwrites in the

file gfx\models\planets\_z_rings_entity_bugfix.asset

the asset generation for ring worlds, because stellaris has a dumb loading mechanism, this always overwrites the same entrys in the

file gfx\models\planets\_planetary_entities.asset

from real space system scale

same is true for mars, but you look less often on mars then on a ringworld.
gfx\models\planets\_z_mars_entity_bugfix.asset line 1
and
gfx\models\planets\_planetary_entities.asset line 510

how to make these two compatible is an other question.

i like the real space version more, and if you use planetary diversity, you maby only need this fix for the "barren_04_normal.dds" in this patch because cubemap_filtered_ldr fix isn't in this patch any more.

@Spectre Okay, thanks for the answer :)

@Megumin From what I know PDX didn't fix that. Remember that you can disable this mod during the game so check by yourself.
@Seven Flames No clue, sorry

Do you have any idea what causes the ring worlds black continents? It's weird that most people dont have that issue.
Bleiser 17 Mar, 2020 @ 7:39am
Is this still needed?
Liseq  [author] 15 Dec, 2019 @ 2:02am
No, it's not my mod. I'm just keeping this one alive but no further support is planned.
Karlos 14 Dec, 2019 @ 7:11am
Could you make a compatibility patch or update the mod so it works?
Liseq  [author] 14 Dec, 2019 @ 5:32am
It's possible. From what I checked it should works with Real Space 3.4 but not with Real Space - System Scale. It may be the reason why it doesn't work correctly.
Karlos 9 Dec, 2019 @ 12:58pm
Excuse me, but your mod is causing issues with Real Space 3.4 and Real Space - System Scale. Using the following mod load order...

1. Immersive Galaxy - Planet Variety, 2K
2. Immersive Galaxy - Planet Variety, Clouds
3. Immersive Galaxy - Bugfix Redone
4. Real Space 3.4
5. Real Space - System Scale

...causes habitable ringworld sections to be much smaller than they're supposed to. Disabling this mod solves the issue, but you get the dark, ugly ringworld with no clouds.

The mod has been updated to 2.5.*. Phew.
