[WOTC] Commander Avatar Restoration

Description
Before I start, massive props and thanks to Vortex who was the one who made the skin work and for that I can not thank them enough for being able to upload this.

Mod Information:
So this mod restores the original Commander Avatar skin that was meant to be used in the game for the final level, while the skin made it far enough to be in the cinematics, the in game unit used the same model as the normal Avatars.

What this does is correct an inconsistency that has personally bugged me since 2016 when the game first released.

Besides the skin from the files of the game, due to the way this mod was set up this uses the model and animation improvements from Vortex's Ragdoll mod, however it has been isolated to effect only the Commander Avatar, this was done because basic texture replacements would not work for the Avatar since something in the base animations reset their skin.

As part of this the Commander Avatar is now a bit chatty and will talk in Advent tongue for actions like a normal soldier would, I personally think this makes sense since this is the Commander's mind in an Avatar's body.

Only the Commander Avatar talks now, the regular ones are still quiet as before.

This only effects the Commander Avatar visually, normal Avatars are left alone and the same goes for their weapons which were also not touched.

Stat wise they are the same as the base game.

Compatibility:

This mod is compatible with Avatar Buffs by RealityMachina

Not compatible with MrKs Witches with Hoods since it also replaces the Avatar model.

If Bugs do arise related to them then let me know and I'll try to address them if possible

This mod would not exist without their hard work and effort that was brought to make this mod come to life.

They made the package, I'm just a mail man.

This was awesome. Thanks.

Oh I found out the cause. was a mod that had no business being installed in the first place. Fortress Provides Frost Immunity, I think it's called. I finished Leviathan again last night after disabling that and this one was in working order again, along with a slew of other mods.

Late response, but I reckon it's plausibly anything changing loadouts or effecting the Commander Avatar directly, on it's own this mod works and isn't just going to stop working.

Loved the mod when it was working. Might be a mod conflict or something, but for some reason, I'm subscribed, I've got the mod enabled, but the new skin just isn't there. I'm wondering if it's a problem at this mod's end or another. Not sure what the cause might be, as the only other mod I have that tinkers with avatars gives the commander Bradford's rifle.

Your only option is to use the full version of the Xcom 2 modding tools which is about 100 GB to install and requires opening the unreal editor.

You can find basics on how to install it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/index

Hi! Really love this mod so much, having to play the commander Avatar skin is so much cool!
Important question, where exactly can I view the skin on?
I'm trying to find a way to look around the pattern of the Avatar mask in order to convert it to 3D print file for a planned XCOM 2 cosplay for next month and I would really appreciate from you and Vortex, Thanks! :xcom2psiop:

That works... my original headcanon was for some reasons the Elder does not see it necessary to make Avatars talk using speech :D

I just head-canon that their attempts to speak English/etc for some reason makes the words come out in Advent like it's programmed into them or something, as well as how the body isn't actually the Commander's personal one.

@Deadput, ahh, I see. Oh well, it kinda messes up my immersion slightly hearing the Commander's Avatar doing some advent-speak. Just slightly, though. I still appreciate his different appearance.

No unless you download the 100+ GB mod tools and know how to edit the unit archetype yourself

The unit uses a custom modified archetype that I don't know how to edit compared to normal units, it's more in depth than a standard unit in order to get around the issues of the texture reverting to normal.
